If both parents were out of work and living in NYC...that really isn't a lot of money.

Are taxes due on this type of 'income'? I use income for lack of a better word.

Pepper I don't think settlement money is taxed, I received a settelement after a car accident and it was tax free, but I don't know if it is like that everywhere. But you are right its not a lot of money especially when you consider the parents are not together and have separate families so the money had to be split.

I agree about the Lifetime movie or a book, you see if they only took a moment and assessed the situation she could parlay it into money if that is what she really wanted. Look how the Duggard girl get settlement from the city and writing a book. Dem no have no vision.

Actually I forgot to include interest in my calculation. The money may have doubled @ 5% interest over 20 years.

250K x 5% interest x 20 years

So 250K each over two years, considering all that could be financially troubled....still does not mean lavish spending. Maybe one big ticket item, and catching up with whatever else is going on....

Ok so the money was likkle more than we were saying However, I still don't think that should be a focus at this time. Unless the girl feels like they gave up on her after the 21 years...

Listen the people dem live in NYC cost of living high, you pay off yu mortgage and some bills and that money done! 23 years to spend the first half, then who knows what they pay off with the second half, lef di people dem!

ok so the family awarded $750K , take 1/3 fi the teifing lawyer dat mek $500K with 1/2 to the madda &amp; fadda = 250K or 125K each .. and 250K in a trust fund fi Carlina if she was found b4 21.. It did not state what happens to the $$ if she was not found.. who got Carlina's share?

So dem get half of 750, dats 375. Minus tiefing lawyer as Kia said. So they spend 250 or so over 20 years.

Dem 2 or so years ago dem get 375 plus interest, and a bet di tiefing lawyer get sumting outta dat.

But besides all of this, its just sad that baby girl is all about the benjamins. Maybe she is fretting because the other momma is going to jail.

Mi agree wid seemi, if they all took a moment they would see that the opportunity exists to make some money
