Thousands of people have marched in Moroccan cities to demand that King Mohammed VI give up some of his powers.

In the capital, Rabat, police allowed protesters to approach parliament, chanting slogans like "The people reject a constitution made for slaves!"

Whilst we in Jamaica are subject to a constitution made for slave-OWNERS.

Remember our constitution was written emphasising the importance of parliament over the people.

Last week while I was there I told my friends to expect Morocco to be the next country for demonstration asking for change. Even though the country is one of the more stable economically, seem that none in the North African region are immune from citizens wanting more.

So it was also said about Tunisia. Stable.
I guess the word more suited would now be, Constrained.
People do not like to be restrained. They like freedom of choice.
So it is being revealed that the various Kings and dictators are not about giving people liberty to choose who they want as leader. Nor is it in North Africa and Arabia and the Arab world at large the freedom of expression as we outsiders thought it may have been in most of these states, especially those allied to the great police, America.

And in our so-called representative democracies, who is it that selects the candidates for office.
It isn't the voters.
It's the party members

Then we are allowed to choose between THEIR choice of candidates: those who are acceptable to parties and who will serve the interests of the parties

This is no less a totalitarian form of government because you can't get rid of the PNP or JLP or the Democrats or the Republican stranglehold on our respective governments any more than can those in North Africa rid themselves of their rulers.

Let's see if in another decade or more if the democratic change which citizens of autocratic-led North African nations are asking for will in fact come to fruition. Mubarak is technically out but his goons are still in control. Ghadaffi still in control of Libya. Iraq has been spiraling out of control since the U.S. (Bush led) invasion. In the democratic U.S.A public workers are demonstrating in Wisconsin asking for state reform, better wages, etc and my Illinois state tax has increased by 66%.

Before going to Casablanca last week I googled &quot;Morocco Protests&quot; just to make sure none would be going on while I'm there! I saw they were scheduled for the 20th.

So when I was there I discreetly asked a few people what they doing on Sunday and nobody nuh mention no revolution nuh plan.

Guess is trick dem trick me eeh!

There are two leaders in the arab world that have genuwine cultural and relgious significance.... they are the King of Morroco and the King of Jordon... Both claim ancestry from the Phophet.... I suspect they can survive...Not in their present form...But in a consitutional role as head of state not head of goverment...

Note that the Libyans havent been clamouring for their king nor has the Egyptian...Nor has tghe Tunisians...

Well the involvement of outsiders and &quot;middle easterners protesting on their own&quot; are not necessarily mutually exclusive. History is littered with popular uprisings that have been hijacked by those who didn't start them.

On another note, it also depends on how one defines &quot;outsiders&quot;.

For example, when Shiite Muslims joined the uprising in Iran, the civil war that ensued eventually ousted the Shah. The Shiites, as it turned out, were taking their orders from Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. The Ayatollah lived in France at the time. Was he an &quot;outsider&quot; ?

Also, the rise of Lebanon's Hezbollah was financed by Ahmadinejad. He has also armed them. Many believe that Hezbollah was responsible for the assassination of Rafik Hariri, the former Lebanese prime minister in 2005 . Is Ahmadinejad an &quot;outsider&quot; ?

Revolutions are hijacked by the best organised.. This is genuwine protest.. Popular discontent has always been there.

I recall every single revolution the Ancien Regime makes that same claim.. it is outside agatators..

since the example has to be US focus tghen the protest in the civil rights was according to Boss Hogg and Walace the work of out side agitators.. according to the cross dressing head of the FBI the work of the Communist and loiberals.. It seems they thought African Americans were incapable of thinking.. like wise the whole of the 9 11 skeptics.. arabs are incapable of lying planes or organising a complex operation...

Every single popular uprising the blame is attempted to be focused on out side agitators..

Yes this is outsiders.. they saw what happened in Egypt who saw what happened in Tunisia...This is a popular uprising, a revolution...it may not suit the image of the left librals... But this is what it is..

and the point I have always made on the Iranian revolution it was not led initally by the Clerics.. it was øed by the left.. with a non to the religusoity of the country..

Mossadeh was over thrown by beign unpopular.. not the CIA...
