I come from a long line of Union workers. My grandfather was an Electrician, and my dad was a Steelworker, my mother was a Nurse. All Union. I have belonged to the Hotel Bar & Restaurant Employees Union, Laborers Union, Papermakers, and International Brotherhood of Firemen and Oilers, as well as a stint as State of Minnesota Union worker.

I have seen a lot happen to weaken the Unions over the years and long negotiations gave way to large concessions on the part of the worker. Once you give something up, you ain't never gonna get it back! THAT, is a given.

my father was a Police Officer/ union
my brother was a union roofer
I am a Nurse / member of Broward Teachers Union / technical support professionals unit
I am a union steward.

A young woman was in the bead store on Friday, and I had my WPR station on, and I noticed she was listening to the reports. She said she had been down to Madison and to get there if I could and that the pizza was good! I guess people have been sending pizza orders from all over the country and some pizzeria is feeding the masses!

One such order came from Iran. I guess outside communication is tabu unless from a place like a hospital or official government buildings or something, so some guy got help to sneak him into a hospital in Iran and order pizza for the protesters!

That was a fun story..gonna go see if I can find a link or something.

I don't know the validity of the Iran story but I see pizza order stories from California to Cairo! What fun..they feed the masses, dang...I love pizza!

I love that story going around, it has been for the last couple of weeks. It sums up the situation perfectly.

There is no more action going on as far as legislation until April 5th. Judges are reviewing the validity of the passed bill from last week at this time, and protests are expected to grow even larger this coming weekend.

As far as the review of last week's bill being passed, they may have acted too swiftly. There were fiscal measures in it, which might make it illegal, I hope.

On top of the recall effort to recall walker and the 8 repugthugs, I heard something today on WPR about an effort now to recall the Senators who fled to Illinois. I haven't been around any media all day except for the 2 hours I spent driving, so I'll see what I find about that later tonight!

I would have commented earlier if I had seen this! I'm more of a drive-by lurker/poster these days cause of busy but I am not afraid to say how [censored]-OF I am...and getting more pissder by the day.

Other than the horrific devastation in Japan, which happened well after this started, I was getting very damned upset that he uttered nary a sound over this, all the while holding news conferences about protests elsewhere. Yes, we in WISCONSIN remember those words dammit.... What is going on in Libya and pretty much everywhere else is horrible..but, what is going on here in Wisconsin is life changing as well, and not a peep.

It seems the people are NOT GETTING IT.

Well Minnesota, you are next on the chopping block! Since I only get Minnesota news, I see if I was a parent in Minnesota I can expect to have 60 to 70 children in each class soon. Can you imagine the chaos of that scene? And, we are already so far behind in education it is embarrassing.

YEAH, GIVE MORE TAX BREAKS TO THE RICH, THAT WILL FIX EVERYTHING! The rich are hoarding their dollars. I forget how many billions they are hoarding, but it was an astronomical amount of money, and yet the children will be STUFFED into rooms to learn, and any hope of retaining dignity for COUNTLESS CITIZENS, will be flushed down the draim.

To add insult to injury...freekin walker was in WAUSAU yesterday chattering away that the protesters are all THUGS bussed in by the Unions from elsewhere. You should hear the teachers, and firefighters and everyone else calling in to the talk shows on WPR and how they feel about that!

Oh sigh, there goes my blood pressure....WHO ARE the thugs?

It makes union spokespeople and elected officials seem like gangsters .

Time to eat the rich

In 2006 the wealthiest 5% controlled half the wealth of the country and since then it's become an even greater pile for that 5%.

Does anyone in this DEMOCRACY ever remember getting to vote on whether this should be so?
