Just got back from Abu Dhabi.. They seem to be trying to rival Dubai.... They have the hard cash...Not a sign of protest!

Abu Dhabi has all the money. Dubai has all the mouth.
It's the tortoise and the hare, with the tortoise loaded with petrodollars.
Abu Dhabi is awash with oil and a small Arab population (less than 1 million I think).
Male locals get a plot of land when they reach 18; families get free electricity and water and other benefits that I don't know.
Nothing to protest about really.

dem no even gi protestors a chance fi go home an pack..dem load dem up, drive dem to di airport n deport dem said way...but underneath the facade of prosperity nuff tings ail the Emirates...dem young people coming up wid diabetes, apathy and general malaise...none of the Emirates have to work...n dat is wat is killing dem...between di ole men n dem viagra n di sense of entitlement dem wi implode in time...all dat glitters is not gold but as a farrina u can mek money....not like fuss time as di dollar declines but u still mek more dere dan here...but choices of lifestyle have to be made...if u are a high professional u can ignore it to a certain extentComment
