Now that the tragedy in Japan will shift world attention from Gadhafi, allowing him to massacre the people and hold onto power, y isnt Gas prices falling??

now that there is speculation that the world economy will slow, hence reducing the demand for oil.. y isnt the prices sliding (as fast as they spiked??)

Republicans seh is because the govt stop issuing "off shore drilling permits" ( a guess it been on hold since the BP debaucle) but the govt is considering tapping into reserves to try to drive the price down

my answer is wall street speculators in the "futures market" (if I was in the game I would probably do the same thing)

It certainly is not greed.

Greed is not enough This motivate intelligent people to act in a dangerous manner.

There must be in place the mechanism to make it worth it.

It is All about having the proper PRESS relationship to create relivant stories to decieve the general population as to who is at fault.

Instead They are lead to think it is &quot;what&quot; is at fault.

This was my reply on a call for a gasoline boycott form a previous thread.

You can also add the following to the reasons why the prices won't drop.

Oil is a commodity on the stock market. People bid on the oil as it is shipped. The oil on the tankers that arrive is already owned and at a specific price. It therefore is sold at that price. That price is determined not by anything other than what the buyers in the stock market THINK the oil is worth.

They are pumping at close to maximum to keep up with the worldwide demand and not buying a few million gallons will mean nothing to either the OPEC members or refineries or any of the oil companies. There is no alternative to the internal combustion engine except the new all electric cars and many people won't buy them.

Sorry gas is a finite resource and not only will its price always go up because of inflation but the world is using more and more oil every day so the demand and competition for that limited supply is increasing and with that demand , the price will rise.
And it gets worse. The oil that has already been taken out of the ground was the oil that was easier to extract. The rest gets more and more difficult and EXPENSIVE to get out of the ground and that too will increase the price.

If you want to save on gas, buy a hybrid gas/electric car, buy a smaller more fuel efficient car, walk and bicycle more , take public transportation.

You will never boycott the oil business into lowering their prices.
