vybz kartel is a superior lyricist, that's why them call him &quot;teacher&quot;. he also takes dancehall in new directions, imo.

nevertheless, the bleaching thing i think is entirely psychological. deliberate physical harm to himself i dont think vybz would undertake as a marketing strategy. and regardless of the publicity, it has harmed him - i do believe he has lost fans and generated contempt, which would be significant consequences to him as an artiste.

o i get it now. you were making a satirical comment. i actually thought some ingenius professor decided to do course based around kartel and his story, in particular the way he has highlighted that no matter the level of success, skin shade is still the ultimate status symbol in the post-colonial, post-independent jamaica of 2011.

not only jamaica- the entire world;
this is still amazingly the philosophy of the whole world...
somehow we have been indoctrinated with a primitive philosophy that the lighter your skin shade (&amp; the straighter your hair) the better a human being you will be...
IMO vybz kartel &amp; others like him are simply reinforcing this type of thinking no matter how fancy his forked-tongue speaks...
actions speak louder than words...
then he claims bleaching or hair straightening is merely a style- --a fashion;

but he should know it goes deeper than that since he is so intelligent;
it's interesting UWI will give this guy a platform, bvut someone like walter rodney was banned from jamaica;
