Somebody knocking on your gate with a stone outside asking if you need a day`s helper.

Your meal take away purchase contains not only lean meat, but bones. Some bones big as a rock. If it`s one thing a Jamaican will suck, it`s a meat bone.

It,s a jamaican thing to fling back couple generous size stones in their face as an indication that their assistance is not required.

No sah, not at all. Maybe so back in the days of the plantation. No one would fling a stone at a person knocking your gate with a stone or a bell for that matter.
The stone is used because it makes a louder rattle on your metal gate. Since is a board gate you did have, dem woulda have to use one old pan to get your attention.

If yuh eliminate di stone, yuh get di same ting ah farin. Dem wi com ring yuh bell or knock pan yuh door fi ask if, yuh waa yuh snow shovelled, grass mowed, edged need cutting, trees need pruning, or gutter need cleaning or replacd?

Of course dem always claim dem ah gi yuh ah good price.

No, it is DEFINITELY NOT only a Jamaican thing. I definitely know some people who can suck bones with the best of them. I even grew up with one but I'm not calling no names (coughdadcough).

My jamaican granmama does the bone chewing thing.....even ask for doggy bag a restaurant to take home bones to chew on bout me a Kaanadian me doan know good bone she take it home because I tell her if she chew any bones in the restaurant with me I will walk out

also.... whats with licking the hell out of a mango seed.....and even when no more mango left on the seed granmama still knawing on it. I cut the two sides off and scoop the mango out and throw away the seed.....she get mad and say next time doan bring dem Kaanadian ting dung here I must give her the seed.....she going on and on about chrow wey the good good mango seed and how the hell I can scoop mango out with spoon that muss eat with hand
