I'm worried that by saying that it wont be weeks but DAYS before the US takes a back seat among the allied forces bombing targets in Libya, he may give them cold feet.. He should tone that down and not repeat it too often.. What would happened if other members of the coalition "catch dem fraid" and decide to quit? He needs to get back on the job at the W/H... We all know that the other nations dont want to carry the ball, (so to speak) ~ An Italian spokeman has already uttered his mis-givings on the matter. : from a CTV 11.00 PM News Report...

I think you just can't please everyone. No matter what he says, there's a complaint.

He started off saying we were part of the coalition and folks said he was lying. Had a big problem with the idea that the U.S. was just going to try to take over the thing.

He's maintained the same position and now it's a problem.that he may not have been lying but telling the truth.

Some things are just &quot;wait and see what happens&quot; events. I would have lost my bottom dollar betting he would never get into office in the first place. Despite all evidence to the contrary (in my opinion) of how things work in the U.S., I was wrong.

Things change and have been doing it since the beginning of time.

I hear you Derek, but those are old quotes and times have changed since then.

We may get lied to about the &quot;why&quot; but I don't recall a time in my lifetime when we got lied to about whether we were actually going to war.

Just being practical though, the spread out troops of the last set of fiascos has to be cleaned up before there is any chance of seriously jumping into a war. You have to have a certain amount of resouces to get a task a accomplished and either you do or you don't have it. If you don't have it, no matter who says what, you will not accomplish a task usually at all.

Although he did indeed say what was was scripted for him to say, that's why presidents' have speech writers.

Barak Obama was nominated by the Democrat Party for the presidency.

The Democrat Party people checked him out very carefully before they did so.

If he were the man that so many thought he was, an agent of change, a moral person who would stop wars and help the poor and oppressed, he would NEVER have been nominated by the Democrats.

You have to be almost completely ignorant of U.S history, U.S foreign policy and what the United States is all about: a government of, by for and owned by the rich to have ever thought that Barak Obama would be any different from any of his predecessors.

Well, given the choices, you have to make a decision sometimes or fall back and do nothing and usually complain about something you didn't have the kahunas or opportunity to participate in .

Now whatever the case may be in the U.S.right now and no matter how dark the night looks, it is still better than 2001 - 2008 for more people. And most people are certainly not the rich.

Perhaps you were too busy to notice that the economy has not improved but has gone even further downhill since Obama was elected. The bad economy has only affected the working people and the middle class is rapidly disappearing due in no small part to the fact that the people of the United States think that by electing either the Democrats or the Republicans, things will get better.

The election of Obama is a classic case of that stupidity.


And about a dictatorship: If you do not think that capitalism (the economic system under which we live) is not the worst sort of dictatorship then you really don't have a clue as to the true nature of this country.

We have a 25% poverty rate. Do you ever remember voting on whether that's okay?
We have 50 million people without health care coverage.Do you ever remember voting for that.
We have 5% of the people controlling something like 80% of the wealth of the country. Do you ever remember voting for that?

The Democrat and Republican parties (Obama included) serve the desires of the wealthy . They also, in a dictatorial fashion, nominate people like Obama to be president without any input from the electorate. Then those whom they nominate become president and serve the wealthy and not the people who elected them.
Is that NOT a dictatorship of the dollar?

It is not a matter of Obama not being PERFECT. It is a matter of Obama being a tool of the rich and the Military Industrial Corporate Complex as are ALL U.S presidents.
He is as evil in his actions and intents as are ALL U.S. presidents .

It is not possible for a person who will act in a moral manner to get elected to the presidency of the United States.

If you don't know this by now, maybe you will in 30-40 years.

As for the average citizen participating in the workings of the government and especially at the federal level, yes you can. You can go into the voting booth every four years or so and pull the lever or make your mark for THEIR choice of people and select whom you think will be the lesser of two evils and THAT is all the participation that you are allowed.

Of course if you'd &quot;donate&quot; a few million dollars to a campaign fund, you might get to participate in some small way and get to shake Obama's hand or something as equally politically effective.

Two points. First McCain served in a war which Lyndon Johnson lied to the country to get authorization for. That war was to prevent the Vietnamese people form having a free and fair election in which Ho Chi Minh would have received 80% of the vote (That is what President Eisenhower said) . So McCain is getting kudos from you for helping to stop a democratic election and having the Vietnamese have the government that THEY wanted. He did not serve our country. He served the wealthy of the country who did not want other countries to have socialist economies because it would adversely affect their wealth.
You didn't know this and it makes you unqualified to talk about McCain's service or about the war on Vietnam in general.


Second,
Presidents ALL presidents at least since 1917 have not made decisions based on the greater good. They make them based on what the wealthy, the corporations, the people who bribe them TELL them to do.

Were it otherwise we wouldn't have a 25% poverty rate , a near 20% unemployment average rate ( double in the inner cities) and 50 million people without health care.

Third, a question or two:

Where do you get your information on how the political and economic systems in this country work? and do you understand that (based on our back and forth here) you have absorbed bad information, misinformation, untruths?
