I actually know a lady that is 4'9" but there is no way her face could pass for a child.....so think Cops will give her a by a mean it did say children a so

true dat Storms,.. it did sey Children..

But mi hafi wonder how dat make sense doe..
Its not like the mental age of the 4'9 (and under) person makes any difference.. if anything, the younger body would likly better deal wid an impact and recover more quickly from injury than an adult.

cant help but wonder how many of these "rule makers" have shares and interest in car seat manufacturers

Remember that prof from UofT (or was it York? ) that was killed when her air-bag deployed? I believe she was only 4'9"...

At the time, they'd said that a booster seat would have saved her life, because the impact of the air-bag would've hit her lower or supm like dat...

I didn't see the news about the short professor, but they did a segment on the news about a month ago about booster seats. I forgot the average age for a child of 4'-9", but I remember thinking dyammm that's younger than I thought.

They also said that the standard seat belt straps don't line up right on the children without the booster seats and are more likely to cause internal organ damage in an accident.

I have two friends under 5 feet. I think both are over 4'-9" though. Still, that only leaves two inches to spare. I had to post in here because I have been dying to ask them if they thought they would be safer driving in booster seats.

I know it's serious, but I won't be able to get it out without it turning into jokes especially since my next question would have to be whether their feet could still reach the pedals. So I have decided to just keep it to myself.

heres something i learned in my Ontario Highway Traffic Act class during my commercial driving/fleet driver trainer course:

Bill 73 legislated in September 2005:
Booster seats are required for children under the age of eight, weighing more than 18 kg but less than 36 kg (40-80 lbs) and who stand less than 145 cm (4 feet 9 inches) tall.
A child can start using a seatbelt alone once any one of the following criteria is met:
the child turns eight years old;
the child weighs 36 kg (80 lbs); or,
the child is 145 cm (4 feet 9 inches) tall.
More drivers, beyond parents and legal guardians, are required to use child car seats when travelling with toddlers including, for example, baby sitters and grandparents as well as primary caregivers.
The penalty is two demerit points for not complying with the law

I thought it was 8. I just didn't want to say it because it still feels weird that these grown women could be the same height as an 8 year old. Both are definitely over 80 pounds though.

As I understand it, here, it's the baby car seats that will get you into trouble. Baby car seat in the backseat or you will get a ticket. The days of throwing your right arm in front of your child when you come to a sudden stop are over.

Ahhm ooh theres absolutely no pc way to bring that up! wow. But even w/out the booster, they have to have special supm to reach the pedals, no? Funny recently i talked to 2 women (not lil ppl, but they're on short side) who were sitting crisscross applesauce (love that!) on chairs while we were at a conference, and i commented on how laissez-faire that seems for a business setting. ANyhow them say it get painful for them to have the feet hanging cuz feet dont touch the floor. i never thought about that b4! Short ppl got some mounds to climb eeh!

How did I know you were about to talk about dangling feet With ether of them, we have to wait for a booth no matter how long.

I guess they are not technically little people. I mean I'm only 5'-5" but hey my feet can comfortably find a place on a bar stool.

As far as how my friends normally drive, I was trying to move one's car and the seat was pushed up so far to the steering wheel and my knees were so far into the dashboard that I'm not sure my [censored] was completely touching the seat. I was like oh gawd until I found the thing on the side to let the seat back some

The next thing I want to know is on a regular day, how well are you seeing out the windshield. I digressed a little bit lol. (See why I'n not the woman for the job.)

It's kind of serious. If you have never had an airbag deploy then you may not understand. It happens so fast and hard that you don't even get a chance to pause and think W-T-F until after it has deflated which also occurs within the same 0.000005 seconds. And it really stings afterward. I would never want to take that in the face.

Speaking of dangling feet... we have a female pilot at my airline. I don't know how tall she is exactly, but she reach to my belly button with her hat on. Fortunately both the pedals and the seat on the plane can be adjusted so mi hear seh a soso one pillow placed strategically and she good to go! I'm sure it harder for her to deal with bar stool thou.
