i sseen a seafood company near to where i live looking for truck drivers to Run Toronto to Miami.
you run empty to Miami,,pick up live fish somewhere in Miami, and come back to Toronto.
Very tempting,,it pays $1400 per round trip
which, by my calculations works out to about 42c per mile.
and like how the Canadaian dollar aheaof the US dollar...hmmmmm...
only thing is sleeping in a truck again doesnt tickle my fancy

How ethical of a man are you HO?

I know that route ought to take you down I-75 in Georgia. I just want enough for myself. Any slight difference in the weigh stations would be considered melted ice.

The drive down will be longer cause you have to make stops to work on boardites houses on the way down (based pon what mi read in the home & gyaden yawd)..
How long is the drive up? noting that you wont have many stops

actually,, i never ran I-75.
I always go through Buffalo, through PA, WV, VA,NC,SC,GA onto 95.
funny you mention the melted ice at weigh stations--one time I picked up corn in Imokalee FL, then had to go to a ice house to get ice sprayed on top of the load to keep it crisp. got to Jacksonville weigh station and was over weight and the made me shovel some of the ice out. crazy--they knew it was melting of and draining out the trailer.

usually Toronto-Miami is a 27 hr drive. I used to pick up fresh cut stem roses in Doral FL and would have to haul [censored] to get them into Toronto. I would leave Miami at 4pm mondays, and be sitting-backed up to my customer door in Hamilton ONT, on tuesday at 6pm. stopped for fuel (about 450 gallons)and coffee in Brunswick GA and kept on trucking-no sleep. hammer down..

I-85 is just as good. When you go through downtown Atlanta, you are on I-75 and I-85 merged together.

Making you shovel out ice was ridiculous. That was somebody controlling and power starved or truly miserable with their job that would ask that.

yeah,,it was 110 degress outside and 35 degrees inside my trailer, so at least i didnt have to work a real sweat ..but it took me an hour and he made me re-weigh till i wasnt over 80,000 ponds. he was a prick.

but, i do miss running the highway/long haul--in a way. i loved running Toronto-Florida.
in the winter you got nice weather, the trip was the right amount of miles to make a decent dollar, and if i wanted to spend my off days in Florida in the winter instead of Toronto it worked. PLUS i met Pepper and we hung out and spar
she had a bashment once, and I brough Elijah with me for the occassion--we broke down in trout Creek North Carolina and I had to put a new Alternator on the truck by myself in the truck stop parking lot. i was dirty and ticked off.missed it.

$1400 per round trip? Is that average rate? Do you pay out of pocket for expenses HO? Fuel, food, etc.

Come stay by meeeeee!! but ongle if u bring lijah and do repairs wah Kia mention y u have to sleep in the truck- u a tun old man, u mus can spring fi a bed at a location close to the hiway!

Didnt realize them trips were so profitable- if so how comes ppl dont do more of them? Especially for ppl who love the road and a likkle solitude.

profitable? its not. trucking has gone down the toilet. i made more money back in the day than i would now.

when i used to drive gasoline tankers i was making $28.75 hr PLUS FULL BENEFITS, we used to get dry cleaning vouchers for our uniforms, work boots. Overtime after 40 hrs, i worked a 4 day on 4 day off 12 hour shift.

now,,you lucky if you get a job driving a gasoline tanker making $20 an hour with no benefits and no work clothes allowance--zip.

wow- the gasoline tanker pay should have danger allowance included man! Did the rates go down cuz of gas price? how comes dem nuh rely more on trains to haul cargo?


i was thinking thats what Jca should do- instead of having these trucks clog up the roads, God help u if u stuck backa one a dem and u have a long journey on a winding road
