they may have overlooked talent in the black community. doesnt mean oscar rewards the untalented.

Correct, however, the selection process isn't fair, which makes it very suspect. And in some cases they do reward the un-tallented.

Marilyn was an actress

Liz can hold her own and I think the only movie of hers I've seen is the 10 hour epic cleopatra

Might haffi check out national velvet (with daughter)

No two ways about that. She was more than a talented actress, she was a great beauty and an "international personality"... I am lucky to have seen one of her childhood movies -"Lassie Comes Home".. Because I was so young, it carries special sentiments for me as it was my first time to Carib which was Jamaica's premier theatre at the time; it was so cool!

Liz was the queen of them all.. Cleopatra made her "queen" above the rest for a very long time, imo of course.. May she RIP...

There is no doubt that Liz was an icon. Loads of folks loved her and many liked some of her 'flicks'. I just happen to be one who's not big on false flash [Cleopatra] or melodramas...[most of what she did was that].

That she just basically stopped acting suggests a number of things. Either she was held in higher esteem by her fans than was warranted or she didn't want to share her personal aging process with the camera.

Seems to me that REAL actors act until they can't make it to the set any longer.
