Even if I grant you that Mr. Seaga had some very moderately successful programs whose benefits faded rapidly, the general condition of Jamaica's society and economy has steadily deteriorated under governments run by both parties since independence.
That deterioration is accelerating as Jamaican politics become more corrupt and inept, as Jamaican society becomes more desperate and violent amidst the collapse of capitalism worldwide.

Those are facts.
If you think that the PNP or the JLP can turn things around given the economy and economic system that exists both in Jamaica and in the world, I'd say you're delusional.

The benefits of the JLP Shearer Government <span style="font-style: italic">(which was the most successful Government in the history of Independent Jamaica)</span> lasted two years into the 70s.
The benefits of Eddie Seaga's Government coming after the devastation of the 70s lasted about three years. Well into the term of the next Government which was formed by Menlie and his Comrades.

So taking all things into consideration under a JLP Government there was 23 years of solid growth. Over two decades read that 10+2+8+3=23.
You counter that with facts not emotional, baseless rants!

What a thing to say by a politrixan addressing a gathering of the faithfuls?? ~ If I,m not mistaken, the speaker was Prime Minister, Patterson at the time..

Quite a glowing tribute to seaga obviously you admire him a lot. But Morris Cargill his (cousin and staunch supporter of the jlp) had contrasting views of him. Cargill in the following piece painted a not so flattering picture of your hero. Given Cargill’s genetic link to seaga and the JLP one can only assume that he bears no ill will to either party ,and is only interested in revealing the truth.To quote Cargill,"As to Seaga, it should be emphasised that anybody who collects GCT and fails to turn it over to the Government is in fact using other people's money without their permission".If seaga had done this in the country of his birth(USA) he would be doing time in a federal correction institution.

TODAY I feel it necessary to return to the subjects of Paul Robertson, the Minister of Undevelopment, and of Eddie Seaga, the Misleader of the Opposition.<span style="color: #CC0000"><span style="font-size: 17pt"><span style="text-decoration: underline">As to Seaga, it should be emphasised that anybody who collects GCT and fails to turn it over to the Government is in fact using other people's money without their permission</span>. Here again there is no evidence that Seaga will be able to settle his debts. In any case, FINSAC should immediately proceed to try to recover what is owed to it. If this were to happen, Seaga would undoubtedly have to go into bankruptcy which would be a good way of putting him out of his misery as Leader of the Opposition.</span></span>

The question then is: With all that Mr. Seaga may or may not have accomplished, how is Jamaica doing now ?
The policies of the JLP and PNP have not worked.
The reason is because they cannot.

That is fact.
Not emotional baseless rants, not lies.

And definitely seeing the forest and not the trees.

All you can talk about is the past and the very limited success of some policies that do not affect the overall downhill slide in Jamaica's economy and societal conditions.

Neither you nor anyone else in these fora have a workable solution to Jamaica's various problems.

Only more of the same.

that passage does lack the lightness of touch that Cargill ahd and we older Jamaicans loved... I recall one column where he was laughing at the idea of the GCT because teh gentleman who fixed his drains and he paid cash wasnt going to pay GCT on the transaction!!!!
