That's one way to look at it.
But there are some 8 million African children who starve to death every year and it would be preferable that they be adopted by anyone who could care for them.
Not to forget the millions who die before their time of curable and preventable diseases like malaria.Comment

JC, my parents adopted my brother when he was 3 mos old. Believe me, I have no problem with it or who is actually doing the adopting as long as they try their best to provide a loving, stable home.Comment

lol...so true...like a pet.
Why are black children starving in Africa and how is adopting one and two going to fix the real problem?
Why are the people so poor on a continent from which so many precious resources (diamonds, oil, etc) are extracted daily?
Almost every political boundary in modern Africa that I can think of was not created by Africans but is merely a colony that gained nominal independence.
That should explain why the institutions don't really serve the people; in all truth, Jamaica is not very different.Comment

The child is from the Ukraine, an eastern European country. So we should assume it is a white eastern European child and not a black African child...
