Re: jamaican being abused at Norman Manley Airport
We simply not identifying our faults and asking the questions relevant to our general behaviour.
Not only Bajans and Trinis are hysterically fearful of unpredictable Jamaican behaviour.
Traveling from Toronto on Air Canada a few years ago, I remember seeing a display of uncooth and degrading behaviour from a group of Jamaican young males.
They were loud and swarmed over their seats like hungry hamsters.
The well behaved and dignified Jamaican is fast being overcome by this lousy demeaning set of youngsters who will soon be in their 50s.
Grandpas and grandmas with nothing of value to pass on to their young kin.

I agree with the OP, as Jamaicans we have a tendency to ignore the blatant mistreatment of our people at home. while in the same breath we will criticize foreign countries especially the USA, for any real or perceived injustice against us.
The following article from the observer is a prime example of our reluctance to accept that we have the same or worst problem in Jamaica. Here we have a Caucasian man with a British accent, at "our" airport giving orders as to which Jamaican should be subjected to further invasive searches and violations of their basic human rights.
Yet when this article was posted on this board the response to it was apathetic at best .
<span style="font-size: 17pt">'They handcuffed me like a criminal'</span>
"CEDRIC Jeffrey was hoping to arrive in London last Friday in time for his son's 14th birthday and to pay a surprise visit to his mother whom he had not seen in a while.
But on Thursday, instead of boarding the Virgin Atlantic Airways flight from Kingston to Gatwick, he was randomly pulled from the line at the Norman Manley International Airport by narcotics officers who requested that his urine be tested for drugs, following which he was handcuffed and taken to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) for his stomach to be x-rayed.
Five hours later, long after his flight had left and the x-ray revealed what he had known all along — that no drugs were in his stomach — he was dropped off close to his home by the police without even the courtesy of an apology.
Now he has no idea who is responsible for reimbursing the more than $80,000 he paid for his ticket. And nothing can compensate for missing his son's birthday or for the embarrassment he felt being led through the airport in handcuffs.
But it was while waiting in line to have his departure form viewed by an immigration officer that Jeffrey said he was again approached by police officers, among them a <span style="font-size: 17pt">Caucasian man who spoke with a British accent, who requested a further search".</span>
