The shocker for <span style="font-weight: bold">me</span> is how recently this event(not <span style="font-weight: bold">picking</span> her to accept the award) took place. The director of the film thought that she should be the obvious choice.
It was also her late husband's request .

but then i am always burning fire on the academy and hollyweird...

they only like to big up black women when they are getting bonked like halle berry by billy bob thorton in 'monster's ball'
or getting bonked by their greasy fat dad like in 'precious'....
then they give them oscars

Finch's vault at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Finch married three times; first to Russian ballerina Tamara Rechemcinc (who performed under her mother's family name of Tchinarova),[16] secondly to South African actress Yolande Eileen Turnbull (&quot;Turner&quot, who was known as Yolande Finch during their marriage; both marriages ended in divorce.[2] After his divorce from Yolande Finch, he married Mavis &quot;Eletha&quot; Barrett, who was known as Eletha Finch.[2] He also had relationships with actresses Kay Kendall, Vivien Leigh and Mai Zetterling, as well as singer Dame Shirley Bassey.

He had four children from his three marriages: Samantha, Charles and Diana with Yolande Turner, and Anita with Tamara Tchinarova.[citation needed]

After suffering a heart attack in the lobby of the Beverly Hills Hotel, Finch died on 14 January 1977, at the age of 60; he is interred in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.[2]

I actually watched this live....I remember it like it was yesterday.....Even though she was in attendance they got some friend of his to accept the Oscar...I dont remember his name but this guy bless his soul went up collected the oscar and immediately called her up on stage to accept the oscar and make her speech.......

Guess I shud have read the whole thread before commenting
