mi memba mi use to tek di train nuff time from portmore to town when mi did inna high school. and it was guaranteed dat when u see a one-foot man a hop rung town and ask wah happen, is cause him did a hang offa di train and drap awf!

Rich, what we are seeing is an exhibition of &quot;for Show&quot;.. We must remember that the trial runs are mainly for the VIP's and the &quot;connected&quot; folks, so these &quot;done up coaches&quot; are to impress.. Once the trials are over, they'll bring out the regular coaches for the rest of us, imo.. Can you imagine putting market folks in the &quot;trial run&quot; coaches? they will most likely be used as passenger coaches afterwards...

About the exterior coloration of the coaches: somehow, I'm of the opinion that instead of painting the coaches with the national colours as they are now doing, could they not use a neutral colour and on all coaches, then paint a &quot;ribbon like arrangement&quot; of our colours lengthwise.. We wouldn't be any less patriotic and I think it would be more dignified somewhat and less costly.. Any thoughts pro and con on this?

The reason for painting the coaches is the corrosion if the aluminum cladding from exposure to condensation and evaporation over the years while in storage.
This require either sandblasting then spray paint with clearcoat or paint it.
Painting is cheaper Since the matter will expose defects in the cladding but paint simply cover All of that.
The coaches were originally unpainted aluminum.

first class look nice. I have fond memories of the train. travelled regular class a couple times but di seat dem did too hard, so mi travel first class the last time. only thing is that the fun happens in regular class - people sell food an ting on the train, and dem did have one poco group, mi could hear the drumming from first class.

i hope they really make a go of it. i would take my daughters for a train ride, if they take the same route. the only problem with the train is that it takes a whole day from Kingston to MoBay, and the stations at either end are not in the friendly part of town.
