About Troop Transition
Our mission is simple – “To significantly reduce post-military underemployment by training and credentialing service members to industry-defined employment certifications”.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Troop Transition was born out of a long-term, national problem – gainful, post-military employment by our honorable men and women of the Armed Forces. The statistics are staggering – 35% of the 225,000 who transition annually from the service find themselves living at the poverty line. Their unemployment runs at twice the rate of their civilian counterparts.
Troop Transition’s on-base programs are designed to train and credential Active Duty servicemen and women for civilian employment. We seek to resolve a couple of real issues – 1) severe underemployment for our nation’s military upon separation and 2) severe blue and grey collar bottlenecks (in various core industries). We know that industry doesn’t have real access into the military while 80% of our forces are enlisted men and women who after 4 to 8 years of honorable service, don’t know how to connect to industry.
With that in mind, our goal is to train near-term separating active duty servicemen (great raw material quality control) to tightly defined industry specs (great output quality control) – we turn America’s finest into your best employees because we have access to them (from inside the gates of military installations) and you as an employer can provide input to the curriculum they are taught.

About Troops 2 Roughnecks (www.troops2roughnecks.com)
Troops 2 Roughnecks (T2R) is a 5-week oil & gas curriculum (accredited through the IADC) that prepares servicemen for life on a rig. Students learn a considerable amount about safety, drilling operations, drilling equipment, and how to prepare for their first hitch. Upon completion of the program, students earn an IADC Rig Pass and a Well CAP certification. Several employers - Chesapeake Energy, Transocean Nabors Drilling, and Union Drilling for instance - are sponsors of the program and hire graduates upon the end of the service members’ military contract.
What employers have experienced through hiring these oil field trained servicemen is tapping into an exceptional pool of talent that has no doubt impacted their retention numbers. They see first-hand that these men and women are a different breed, trained and conditioned to extreme environments, and time tested and proven assets. Moreover, they can be groomed for positions of greater responsibility since they come equipped with proven leadership skills – a trait that’s hard to come by at the entry level.
Troops 2 Roughnecks currently operates aboard three military installations (Camp Pendleton, CA; Camp Lejeune, NC; and 29 Palms, CA – all Marine Corps Installations).
