THE Observer was yesterday chastised by Archbishop of Kingston Donald Reece for its front-page display of an artist's sculpture of a nude Jesus. Reece, while calling the prominent placement of the story distasteful, questioned, in a scathing letter to the editor, whether the same judgement call would have been made had the sculpture been of the Islamic prophet Mohammed.

He said the majority of victims identified were poor Jamaican women and girls, and increasingly boys, <span style="font-weight: bold">subjected to forced prostitution in urban and tourist areas</span>. Between September 2010 and March 2011 the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Trafficking in Persons Unit rescued 14 victims, seven of whom were females, including a minor.

Trafficking is believed to occur within Jamaicas poverty stricken garrison communities, territories formerly ruled by criminal 'dons' he said.

According to Nelson, it is suspected that some <span style="font-style: italic">Jamaican women and girls have been subjected to forced prostitution in other countries such as Canada, the US, the United Kingdom, the Bahamas, and other Caribbean destinations</span>.

Exotic (go-go) clubs and massage parlours were the most common medium of sexual exploitation for both males and females. Some cases of missing persons are believed to be incidents of human trafficking.
