shocked dat one of Jamaica`s foremost fashion designers is just a footnote in her actress daughter Sheryl Lee Ralph`s bio

who can figet her design of the Kareeba dat Joshus took up n made it the fashion item it became in Jamaica

who can figet her fabulous cutwork designs available at her flagship store on HWT Rd across from what was Premier Plaza....if u didn`t have one of her designs during the 70s etc , u weren`t saying anyting

yes, she attended design school in NY n her hubbie, Sheryl's father was a teacher up deh...Sheryl lived wid di daddy n attended school in NY...y i remember dat clearly is dat i use to be a faithful reader of PEople Magazine ...dem did an article on her hyping her Jcan heritage BUT dem quoted her as saying she experienced racism at her high school Quees...as a Jcan schooler n ardent natiionalist mi tink she was saying Queen's HS a yaad (she meant she went to HS in Queens NY)...so mi send irate letter to People tecking exception to dem saying racism in Jcan HS ...dem write me back explaining the mistake

Designer Ivy Ralph knows how to dress real women. Part two of her 'Cool Caribbean Collection for the Real Woman', was showcased at Devon House Grog Shoppe Fashion Brunch last Sunday.

The ambience at the Grog Shoppe was fitting for Ralph's Cool Caribbean Collection. The Sunday afternoon sun played with the vibrant colours of the collection with pieces ranging from casual to elegant. They embellished varying figures of real women in the form of models Bev Corke, Gillian Turbull, Christine Steele, Christine King and Gabrielle Harbon.

2Gillian Turnbull is like a heavenly vision in pure white.

3 Designer Ivy Ralph may have love on her mind as she put togeather this Valentine's ensemble worn by Bev Corke.

I am more [censored] off about the death of the local tailor.. I recall when every manjack was a designer and would show the Tailor what he wanted.. When pants length was the most puopular thing from overseas.. That was a time when we did not appriciate our creativity....

A true Wahalla. Such talents seem to be a thing of the past.

I remember the days of going to my dressmaker's house with a bag of fabric and various design styles in my head. We would spend hours going over the creative styles, the measurements and setting date to return for fitting. That woman was a talented seamstress and would have made the highlights working for Givenchy, St. Laurent or Dior.
