Britons remanded for brawl on plane
Two British Nationals who were involved in a fight on a Virgin Atlantic Airline flight from London Gatwick Airport destined to the Norman Manley International Airport, Jamaica, have been charged with air rage, unruly passenger behaviour and malicious destruction of property.
They are self-employed Jason Dixon and Danielle Bishop, an administrator, both from London addresses.
The two accused pleaded not guilty to the charges when they appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. They were remanded in custody until May 6, when the matter will be tried.
Allegations are that on May 2 at 5 p.m. Dixon was intoxicated while on board the flight after drinking alcohol he had bought at the airport in London.
The cabin supervisor also witnessed him stealing a bottle of gin and a bottle of Baileys from the on-board drinks cart. This resulted in him being refused any more alcohol after which he became verbally abusive.
An argument ensued between Dixon and Bishop who became concerned. During the aircraft's approach to Kingston the argument developed into a brawl.
The fight allegedly resulted in several compartments of the aircraft being damaged amounting to about £25,000 (J$3,175,000).
