I was here in NYC when my friend who worked at Sloan Kettering told me he had died and that it was on the radio. I was shocked - I was not even aware that he had been ill (there was no Jamaican.Com) in those days to us &quot;breaking news&quot;.

dont remember what i was doing when the news came that Bob had passed, but most likely since mi was still in prep school, mi was probably stalking the pretty girls in class, then walk up to them.. ask &quot;what time do you have please?' then run back tuh mi onlooking motley crew, high-fiving and bragging, &quot;See seh mi have <span style="font-weight: bold">lyrics!&quot;</span>

my mom worked there at the time too, &amp; actually spoke to him a few times...

i remember the very day even though i was just a kid...

i knew a great man had gone into spiritual essence...

I recall the day where I was.. I was at Postdam up in the St E hills.... I was seated on a wall a ... Heard on the radio.. I beleive round 10 in the morning

Funny thing was a friend of mine who died recently, later studied in the Soviet Union..was sitting on the wall besides me..

We had expected it...

.Few years back when we reconnected He told me that I had kept him informed with more details of the illness from listening to BBC world Service I recall at late nights I could pick up the Latin american version.. , that what was on the radio the newsmedia in Jamaica...

He told me during his time in the Soviet Union he followed the news on the Jammed BBC world service.. He told me would think of Bob's death and of me each time he struggled to find a semi jammed station... He told me he recall me telling him the dificulty of catching the radio signal.. turning the radio up down subtl changes ot the arial connection to barb wire fences........Funny that he was study I was learning the secrects of the AK.. Now each time I recall bobs death I think of my friend....He was going to be an MP...

I remember I came home from school and all the radio stations I tuned into were playing Bob Music. I was a bit confused about that. After hours of juist hearing straight Bob, the Disc Jock finally repeated the news - &quot;Ray-gay great Bob Marley died today at a Miami hospital&quot;

I dropped to the floor. I was like WHAT? Granted I knew Ziggy and Stephen back then. They use to attend the same school as mi lickle bro. I had to pick up my brother from school as I always did and when I got there I was asking for David (Ziggy's real name) and Stephen and my Brother told me that Rita had already picked them up. Mi was so sad fi dem cause dem was so close to Bob

I also remember people pouring out to the streets and transistor radios just pumping out Bob tunes. Bus driver honking horns in his memory. It was a sad day.
