I did something very few of my staunchest forum opponents would do: I was listening to "Democracy Now" which was doing a story on "Malcom X" when I realized that President Obama was about to give his (latest) speech on the Middle East and the "Arab Spring".
I figured I'd waste some time and listen to the speech so that I could talk knowledgeably about it.
It became very soon apparent that this speech was to be nothing different and to help stay awake I decided to list all the lies and twistings of the truth into things unrecognizable as the truth.
That exercise did hold my attention on what he was saying and I wound up with a total of 24 things he said which were either outright lies or very debatable.
The most memorable?
After going on about how it is necessary to resume the Israeli-Palestinean issue he then went on to say that the U.S would not let Israel be (even) criticized in any international forum (read: the U.S will veto any criticism of Israel at the U.N. which the United States has emasculated for decades) and criticized Iran for working on nuclear weapons ( a lie) while never mentioning that Israel who refuses to sign on to the ban on Nukes has a very large stockpile of nuclear weapons.
Lastly, I wish the man would just talk to us off the top of his head and stop reading his damned speeches couched in verbiage not used in normal conversation and in that sing-song delivery he uses.
But I guess like all presidents if he doesn't have the words he must say to keep his lies straight from speech to speech on the teleprompter, he'd screw up.
Hence his great reluctance to hold press conferences. where he cannot control the questions.
He's supposed to be bright but I would guess the lies have become so interwoven and complicated that Einstein or Hitchens couldn't keep them straight without a script.
