Just because an act is common practice in north American foes nit make It justified.

It use to be common practice and even legal in the US to treat black people as less than animals too.
This was as recently as 1968.
Jamaicans never accepted it then.
What is the difference with the present day Jamaicans?

Dont know if the Exchange District incident, but if by chance its the same as the Buckfield incided (see in vid) , it would seem to be a different senario..
in Buckfield, the man was laying on the ground agter being beaten by the police..
In Alexandria the man and his cronies were attacking the police.

we may be traveling a dangerous path when we decide to lump ALL police into one.. If thats the case, the we may be justifying the police to lump all civilians into one... thats one "lumping" I'm not sure we want to encourage..

Yow, the Jamaican police force (from my experience) is s---t.. BUT watching that Alexandria shooting video does not add to my shi--y opinon of the Jamaican police force. if anything it provided some sympathy..

The suspect in Alexandria had relented somewhat. He definitely saw when the police in plain clothes drew his gun out and cocked for ready discharge. At that moment there was no kicking and fist-fighting. The police shot him dead, point blank just as if he were prostrate on the ground like the Jamaican of unsound mind at Buckfield.
The vehicle SUV that eventually took the mortally wounded man away obscured vision of the actual seconds the bullet(s) entered the deceased. But I say that at that moment the suspect had relented. Therefore the shooter had no right discharging his weapon into the man.

That's exactly what mi friend tell mi. They are not trained to aim for your leg while their life is threatened.

Which begs the question, who inna dem right mind would attack the police ? As a small child, even I knew (though I was never specifically told) to stay far from them.

On the other hand when there is a history of the police shooting unarmed citizens time and time again, when the police finally have a "valid" reason to defend themself, citizens could care less that is was "justified" for lack of a better word.

To the residents it just come een like another senseless shooting.

The guy simply just decided that him gwain be a martyr then and there. The rum, then the police intervention activated the adrenalin and the testosterone. Then he possibly being unemployed and made to hustle for survival like many Jamaicans do in Jamaica thought it rambunctious for the corrupt agents of the state to cross his detail..what de hell...waste it then and there bro.

I feel like the situation in Jamaica right now is do unto others before they do unto you... I tell you the truth - if I was a policeman in Jamaica - I can't see me trying to apprehend a suspect without force unless I AM 100% sure they don;t have a gun on them...

I am sad that a life was lost - no matter what life he led - but I can;t say that I 100% blame that policeman... if him did get weh - how much yu bet say him an him fren dem set fe dat policeman an kill him later on?

bway - I don;t say some of those police aren;t brutal beyond what is necessary - but the job they have facing some of these criminals is a constant life threatening thing. is survival of the fittest so I seet.

The actions of the occupants of the SUV - especially the guy in the brown shirt - are criminal and contributed to the man's death. If they are not in custody then someone in authority needs to explain why. Even at the beginning the SUV is in position before the deceased emerges.

If police where not in the control of the situation inside the police station, then how do you expect them to be in control outside of the station.

The blue-shirt man should have never escaped their custody in the first place.

After watching this video a few times now I have to agree with the the police action.

There was a direct threat to life there that needed to be halted so the shooting was justified IMHO. The police are probably glad to have the video as evidence in this particular matter.

The police man shot the assilant... and then the two uniformed police went back into the station... Then a bystander takes the injured party in his car to the hospital....police didnt even clear people away...

incompetence on the part of the police.. I have to rewatch later... there was no call for killing the person.. simply stepping back letting the man calm down.. thats a life lost...a brother dead.. does he have children, will his mother mourn...

atre the police so badly trained.. that three police couldnt over power a knife whelding thug without resorting to the use of a gun...

Guns are designed to kill people...
