About 6 months ago Ms. Campbell was interrogated extensively by the International Court of Human Rights. At the trial of Charles Taylor, no less!

Word had it that they both had been at a conference in South Africa several years earlier and in the middle of the night, a messenger from, presumably, Charles Taylor, knocked on her door and gave her a paper bag containing rough uncut diamonds. Taylor (former President of Liberia) was on trial at the Hague for using <span style="font-weight: bold">'blood diamonds'</span> to finance his promotion of rebels waging a civil war in Sierra Leone, which is against International Law (Barack Obama please take note!). She appeared as a witness at this trial and we all watched her testimony on TV here in Ghana. She was very uncomfortable about being involved in Taylor's trial and gave non-committal answers and behaved generally as though she resented being there at all - for which she had my sympathy.

And so that commentator was quite right: it probably <span style="font-weight: bold">was</span> more about diamonds than chocolate - but both would have been offensive to her - BIG TIME!!!

I think the whole thing sounds ridiculous, but I would have to reserve judgement until I actually saw the commercial.

I kind of blame their marketing team for picking someone with a reputation for being volatile. If I had to guess, it was the &quot;move over&quot; line alone that set her off since she has pretty much aged out of her career.

And I can vouch for the fact that she is still just STUNNING! She certainly didn't look too old to be a model - no way!!!!

I agree with jah_yout: three cheers for her for suing them and I only hope she wins and gets substantial damages from them. Their apology to her has to add fuel and substance to her case, and since they are so heavily involved in Africa (they have a whole huge building /factory on one of the main drags here), they can't possibly be unaware of the DIAMONDS issue - and an observant person would speculate that in fact it was at best insensitive and at worst a deliberate slur or provocation. I wish her all the best.
