Why so scarce??

I don't understand it.

You're on an island.

Surrounded by water.

Why is fish so hard to find?

I'm in JA 3 weeks and fish scarce nuh hell.

And then when I <span style="font-weight: bold">DID</span> find it, of course, it's was mad expensive.

bad weather? rough seas? maybe the fishermen we not able to go out or the catches were poor.

Negril for 3 days. St Mary, St Ann and town for the rest.

My whole life, I've never heard of fish being so hard to find.

But I've been home in heavy rains before - never seen this happen. Strange.

I got there 5/21 and where I stayed, I even heard someone talking about the same thing - that she couldn't get nuh fish dis long while.

And don't even mention cow head. Nooooooo where could I find cow head.

Ms Ex the rains were beyond heavy. From the moment I landed until the day I left last week – pure and continuous rain.

Once in a while, the sun would tease you in the morning – stick it’s head out for an hour – maybe 2, certainly no longer and then, just like that – it ran and hid.

First in my memory I’ve never been able to go to the beach.

One day we had to go Kingston. Me, my cousin visiting from England and a couple others climbed into the car and off we went from Guys Hill. If I had know what was about to take place, I’d have never step foot in the car.

Fern Fully lack aff. Devil’s Racecourse was a hot mess so we had to go down, drive thru Breadnut Hill and thru Mt Rosser ...

I start feeling uncomfortable as soon as we’re going thru the bypass put I try and check myself and relax. It’s the driving rain that’s concerning me. But at least it’s daylight so I calm myself.

We push forward, hit Bog Walk, thru the gorge and over flat bridge and I start getting anxious all over again because the water is high. I mean – HIGH. It’s ok for now but I’m concerned about the return. If it’s closed, then we’ll have to go allll the way thru Sligoville and that’s the last thing on earth I want to do ...

Peasie - it's not anything to do with the rains - this is what I was trying to say earlier. Fish was hard to find even before the rains came.

Sleeping on Mt Rosser

<span style="font-style: italic">(note - this is not a trip report - just came to me when I was talking about the fish shortage - came to me about this horrible night)</span>


We hit Spanish Town – hop over to Woodpecker Avenue and pick up another cousin. Night is coming when we push off again. Constitution Hill is the destination and let me tell you – I’ll never visit this place again so long as I have breath in my body – you couldn’t pay me cold hard tax free cash money to go up there again. Not even a million dollars.

Constitution Hill is like driving to the moon. You just drive drive drive drive drive – all en time yuh tink seh yuh soon reach, baxcide! Ah<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic"> dattah</span> </span> time yuh really ah staht drive.

And don’t even THINK about driving on something called ‘road’. I’ve never – EVER, seen roads as bad as this. Ever.

I’d always heard of this ‘Constitution Hill’ but could never dream a place could be so, so far and so, so vertical!

I drove through Sligoville last October. Not bad at all But I drove in dry weather.
