So, I took my son to Chapters bookstore today to see if Miss Lou's book Jamaica Labrish was there or just anything about Jamaican culture really. Imagine my surprise when not only did they not have the book, but they don't have a West Indian/Carribean section in any Chapter's bookstore in all of Ontario. I refused to believe this so asked to speak to the manager of the store who confirmed, and added that they had some really nice travel books. Was she serious? I had to look at her for a second or two to determine if she was really seriously offering me a blasted travel book. I have never been so insulted in all my life. Some body tell me what to do please. I wrote a letter to Chapters describing my disappointment, lets see what they do about it.

I am sure you can find a locally owned bookstore in the caribbean area of ontarioIf you don't fight for what you deserve, you deserve what you get.

Re: No Carribean section in Chapters bookstore
in the mean time try online at www.chapters.ca
in lieu of Ms Lou's books, you'll find a few half decent books in their inventory.
You may check out ..

Subject: CARN Radio 98.7FM – WE DID IT!
Hello 98.7FM Supporters,
On Thursday June 9, 2011, I received the good news from the CRTC that our application for a broadcasting licence to serve the Black and Caribbean population has been OFFICIALLY APPROVED.
Let me thank all of you who supported the mission to attain a radio licence for our community. The journey has been long and difficult but with God’s help we have made it. We now have a permanent voice on the Canadian airwaves. I hope you all will support this station which will be our legacy for years to come. Now the hard work begins to get the station ready for our official launch which we hope will be sometime in the Fall.
Thank you and God Bless,

Re: No Carribean section in Chapters bookstore
this is comforting to know, the last time i got so excited when they were doing their broadcast testing then it just fell off. Some neighbouring radio station complained about signal interferance, (i'm so sure)
Taking my son to Miss Lou's room at harbourfront to hear some stories this weekend. I went last weekend by myself and although the story tellers were white Canadians it was still a good time. The poor lady said "mosquito one mosquito two mosquito jump in the hot CALLABOO" I had to ask her what the heck was a callaboo, she was so proud of herself i didn't have the heart to correct her. But i will be story telling in a few weeks, i'll be sure to say it properly so she learns
