You all may remember my posting in Oct 2010 about my cousin who was killed at work – she was a security guard at the hotel Decameron.
The kids ... they’re struggling. And seems more so, mentally and spiritually than financially sometimes.
This was the primary reason for our trip a few weeks ago – trying to get some things sorted out because, believe it or not, the children have STILL not been issued insurance benefits.
Why?
Because we’re waiting on the RGD.
To do what?
Issue a proper death certificate.
Why?
Because the insurance & rgd bastards say her name is spelled incorrectly in records and they have to do some research to figure out the error.
My Mom is absolutely beside herself with worry over the kids. And this, as a result, is making me worry over her! I wont even get in that. Let’s just say that we all know – stress and worry isn’t good for anyone.
A slight bit of good news is that we’ve located their father. He’s in Texas and trying to help as much as he can but, he’s here in a bind of sorts, as well. And that's a whole other story.
We really had to race them up at the insurance company the other day. Here’s what they did and I come to find out, it’s pretty common a practice in JA ...
We went to the ins company - they told us they didn’t understand why we were there.
“What are you needing for us to do? What is it you need? This case is closed – the funds have already been dispensed.”
Are you joking!
Yes – right there we had to race them up.
After “double checking” they told us they made an error. That they’re actually waiting on the correct death cert to finalize the case and dispense the money.
Here’s what - these people drag matters out – drag, drag, drag, drag it out for months! For years!
While the stall is happening, they take the money themselves (it's usually a higher up in the co. that does it because surely! no one could doubt the word of Mrs Higher up ... so I'm told the runnings go) and make up documents and signatures saying that you had already collected monies. When you finally DO go to get your funds, etc – they whip out paperwork saying the case is closed and that you already got it.
It then becomes a David vs Goliath story and in the end, you lose.
Oh chile please – I whipped out my IPhone so fast it wasn’t funny. I recorded the whole meeting. They back tracked quick quick. Awww hells no! Not on my watch.
I tell you, I tell you.
No justice.
No peace.
