For Once-Toronto Mayor does the right thing

Not supporting Gay Pride Parade.

The Gay community says hes snubbing the event which brings millions of dollars to Toronto.
"Im going to the cottage in Huntsville to spend time with my WIFE and kids- END OF CONVERSTATION"

The Gay community is saying he took the job as mayor and he should be attending as part of his job.
Now, JUST BECAUSE hes the Mayor,,if the guy chooses to go to Muskoka to the cottage to spend the weekend with his family, or he chooses not to go because he doesnt want to see a bunch of fruit loops run around naked spraying each other with water guns--his choice,

Just like how I wouldnt go because i dont like queers.

I respect him for doing what he feels is right and not doing something because it is seen to be the "popular" thing to do.

Good for him! Besides, time with family trumps everything else.

canada day is on a friday. the parade is on a sunday. he could make it without sacrificing family life. he's the mayor, he should go. he's been to all other parades to date.

not only did he refuse to go to the parade, he refused to go to any of the other lead-up pride activies.

he was asked directly if he was homophobic and he did not answer the question.

Ultimately the next election will determine what the people of Toronto think of this mayor, not whether or no he went to a gay pride parade. As someone who also finds the gay pride parade a shameful spectacle I am glad the mayor does not attend an event that does not line up with his sense of morality rather than show up with a day long fake smile on his face.

At the end of the day, I am not his judge. He is going to have to act in a manner he himself is comfortable with and he can sort that out with his God when he stands before Him. Obviously attending an event hosted by people of another religion is within his comfort zone. When I was a born again christian I attended a hindu wedding. I had no problem with it. I was there to observe, not to worship another God.

I just find the whole pride parade thing classless and distasteful. Even more so because of being raised in a Jamaican household. Mi granny would be spinning in her grave if she saw wha gwaan down deh! Let the people run naked in the street if they wish, all considered OK because it brings money into the city.

i hear u milo, but i wasnt really asking you to judge him, as such, just wanted to understand what you believe to be in the scope of rob ford's duty as mayor.

so, let me be clearer. rob ford is the mayor of a religiously plural city. do you think that as a christian mayor he should only attend christian events as a measure of his integrity and steadfastness to his beliefs?

someone made the point that skimpy clothing and near nakedness is also a feature of the caribana parade.
