Caribana parade twice. I never saw anything there that I would not see at any beach. I have never been to the pride thingy but have seen pictures that were taken by a co-worker of nuff nakedness. You can't compare the two IMHO. But to each their own I suppose.

You know what I find ironic? It's called the &quot;Pride Parade&quot; but what exactly is there to be proud about with that behavior?

I'm sure there are many gays and lesbians out there who work hard every day, pay the bills and try to raise a family the best way they can who look at he &quot;Pride Parade&quot; and cringe because it does nothing more than perpetrate the stereotypes many people hold of gays and lesbians.

rob ford's soul was sold before he got into the job of mayor. he had a track record of being a liar, and of being vicious when cornered. he has shown very little respect for people who are not like him.

the idea of homophobia being a virtue in a leader of a large, pluralistic, diverse society is laughable.

nuff people cringe when caribana comes on. or dancehall culture. what a boring and oppressive world it would be where everyone was expected to act conservatively.

he won the election for Mayor (against all the obvious odds).. he must be doing something appreciated by most voters..

MGee--you actually saying Rob Ford should go to Gay Pride events JUST because hes the Mayor of a diverse city?

how do you compare him going to a Muslim event and a Gay pride event?
So maybe the guy is homophobic. So thats his perogative. So why is he bound to go because hes the mayor? Because it brings money to Toronto? Free country-guy obviously doesnt want to go for his own moral beliefs. Or because everyone in society suppose to accept gays in society?
Personally I think Rob Ford is a douche bag.but i like his style handling this one.

it's quite simple, H.O. He's the mayor and attending parades is part of what he does. no one is asking him to turn gay or to take a gay person home for dinner. being homosexual is not a crime, and he's not being asked to consort with criminals. the pride parade, as you know and rob ford knows, is an event that draws families, because, much as he'd like to ignore it, gay folks have families that love them and see nothing wrong inhaving a good time with them.

rob ford is showing his true colours. and they aint pretty.

he cancelled Afrofest, citing some idiot nuisance thing. this african festival has been happening every year at queen's park for over 20 years, but it was one of the first casualties of the ford administration. but of course, it's a free country, aint it, and ford should be able to act on his (racist) beliefs...right?
