There is increasing anxiety in the central Jamaica town of Mandeville this morning, a week after 18 people suffered food poisoning.
All 18 had reportedly eaten at a Chinese restaurant before they fell ill.
This morning, George Sloley, the chief public health inspector for Manchester is remaining mum on the progress of an investigation into the incident.
The health ministry said it is aggressively probing the matter.
However, many Mandeville residents said they are concerned that the restaurant remains open, posing a danger to other unsuspecting patrons.
The councillor for the Mandeville Division Sally Porteous has been leading the charge for the restaurant to be closed pending the outcome of the probe.
Last night, Porteous told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre she was extremely displeased with the approach of the health ministry.
On Friday, the health ministry reported that it would be making a decision, soon whether to order the restaurant closed.
