believe it or not hip-hop is the dominant genre of music for the youth in the entire world;

no memo from you or i will change that-- culture follows its own vortex;

just because the music of your youth was ragtime does not mean it will be the music of these yutes;

corporations &amp; other malevolent forces saw this &amp; hijacked the music;

so unless you own some mega international media companies with enough power to buy out the record companies &amp; radio stations &amp; replace what they play on the air...

i'm afraid the music of the youth will continue to be hip-hop;

not that the r&amp;b, dancehall rock or pop music is much better as far as content

Kids listen to what their peers and peer group listen to. If their friends are into it, they will be.

I can't imagine a 16-year-old from the Bronx listening to Frank Sinatra on his iPod. What will his friends think?

Kids listen and like what they have been exposed to. Expose them to many venues and they will choose what they like without following their friends.

hip-hop is the most popular music of youth of all colors &amp; backgrounds...

i didn't know they needed a leader for that to happen...
it's called culture; it's a phenomena- people listen to music &amp; this is the music they have voted (with their dollars &amp; computer downloaders) as the most popular;

that's just the way it is...i don't think any one guy is going to be able to kill hip-hop overnight any more than parents in the 1950's &amp; 60's could snap a finger &amp; get their kids to stop listening to rock n roll or r&amp;b which at the time they also considered wayward music with wayward messages

if kids are all listening to the same thing who was said teen to make it cool? HipHop is a dominant style of music but your statement originated about the lyrics of hiphop giving the assumption that all hiphop contained non positive lyrics. That is when I started asking the questions.

They like the beat of hiphop no one denies that but I do believe there is significant choice in lyrics
