media has influence over everything...
cartoons are expressions by the artists who create them;
this artist did not behead anyone-- nor as far as i can tell- is he/she promoting beheadings...

this is serious stuff;
if the cartoon makes a few people sick---- then great---
what is going on in the country <span style="font-style: italic">should</span> make us sick...

I'm not surprised, not shocked in the least. Brutality of every kind gwaan in J.A.. God has lowered his hedge and allowed the devil free reign over the island.

Nothing but a full scale revolution will save Jamaica's future and that will never be allowed. Even if it was, corruption is so much part of Jamaican society that the new regime would probably be just as bad as the PNP &amp; JLP ever were.

hmmnn .. I don't think he was trying to convey a joke. I maybe wrong .. but my interpretations of most cartoons is that they depict what is going on in the society. That is to say , the criminal have more rights than the victims. One cannot argue that that is not true in most cases (wrong or right).

I could be wrong but I don't think that cartoon was a Joke but more of a satirical depiction of how ruthless, yet protected, criminals have become. </div></div>

there is no justice in jamaica (hyperbole perhaps but i dont give a crap right now). and part of the problem is that poor people cannot rely on the police to protect them, because it has become entrenched for police to believe themselves judge jury and executioner, and they dont care if they take out innocent or guilty, once u of a certain class and live in a certain neighbourhood, u a criminal to the so-called law enforcement.

why couldnt the people hearing the crime call the police? who can they trust to prevent it, and to protect them for calling the authorities?

all low middle and upper class jamaicans low police fi execute, violent crime still a gwaan. no effing deterrent at all. no prevention.

People have such short memories and the media knows that and uses it to manipulate opinion.

the cartoon is not just a sole depiction of what is going on it is a editorial comment..it is opinion and agenda just like any other editorial or opinion piece it is aimed at eliciting a specific reaction from the reader.

i think the idea that a citizen might be armed might prove a deterrent to random crime but when it come to targeted crime and &quot;hits&quot; i do not think it will have any impact. </div></div>This is not a 'hit'.
It is an attack with the intention to silence the people by instilling fearin them.
Now tell neighborhood the people were allowed to adequately secure their lives, would those criminals be so willing to use such tactics?

I am not in dispute with these sentiments.. I was NOT &quot;defending&quot; the cartoon other to say that is what cartoonist have been doing for everything that have made headlines since I was a pickney.

But enough about the cartoon. The dynamics between the community and the police amazes and confuses me. I have seen quite a lot of tapes where the community is standing around and egging on the police to shoot somebody who they think is a pest/criminal in their neighborhood. Then when the police shoots someone unjustly, there is outcry (rightfully so) that the shooting was uncalled for. I said it time and time and again, the lawlessness in JA in not one sided. The police and the greater majority of the community all have the same barbaric mentality. It is very troubling.
