Greetings from sunny/HOT Jamaica!

Thanks again for all the tips on bringing new items into Jamaica and declaring them. Upon revirew on what I had, mostly kids clothes and some school supplies, I decided not to declare......

Took someone's advice to say that I am bringing cash instead of 'gifts', well that didn't fly.... the RUDE person told me to go to the declare line.

After a search (and breaking the zipper on my suitcase) they told me to go into the supervisor's office to count the cash I had on me. It was confirmed that amount I told them from the beginning...... oh well, guess they had to check it out!

Am thankful they didn't charge me duty/taxes on the stuff I had, but it was a delay and hassle for about 1 1/2 hours.

dats why u haffe lie to dem, no tell dem nothing,

u declare u have $500 to enjoy your stay (dem cant count ur money) a how much u tell dem u bring??

if dem dig and find anything, come up wid a excuse and gwaan ur way....

if dem find school supplies, tell dem u had extras and was planning to give them to any school in the area...and done dehso,

Yup, dem outta order and fool for sure, not to mention dem RUDE! doesn't hurt to be more respectful to people who spend TONS of money in their country oh well, so it go sometimes..... still give tanks dem nah charge me!

wasn't coming in on a vacation, live here - so probably why they questioned me so much, and didn't 'believe' mi nah bring anyting for my husband... which is probably normal, it's more how rude they were bout it!

Dem customs officers put up wid attitudes fr homegrown n farrina... Hard work but I fi one helping Ja collect taxes from alllll

For that response. THIS is outta order. How you gonna tell a forrina how to lie and be disrespectful to your fellow Jamaican? Any tourist (whether they want to take up residency or not) should pay their just due to visit our beautiful island and should not be looking for way to cut corners. THAT is OUTTA ORDER.

The poster should be reprimanded and not praised.
