except the majority of looters were white, i'd say.

not looting a bookstore is not necessarily a sign of anything except that books are not as valued in the society as other material things.

chris rock's pov is similar to that of bill cosby's where they blame behaviour on colour and not socioeconomics.

true. but the behaviour is not correlated to ethnicity. by which i mean poor white people behave the same as poor black people. or poorly socialized black people behave the same as poorly socialized white people.

the root of the issue is lack of parenting by the parents of the kids. Think before you lay down wid smaddy as there is a chance a life will be created.

I do not blame lack of funding of extra curricular activities after school as a root cause dat too is a bandage.

i always take comments by people who are not young black males who grew up in &amp; experienced the system with a grain of salt...
because they never lived it...or they do not have young black male children of their own...

they go by second-hand information...those of us who lived it &amp; studied it know a bit more...

parents can instill certain values, this is true, but generations of blacks have been completely mis-educated &amp; indoctrinated with faulty lessons from society &amp; self-hatred...
on top of that the local national gov'ts continue to take funds away from the things that can keep them occupied while at the same time giving more &amp; more funds to wealthy banks &amp; corporations...
they use violence (called wars &amp; military actions) to solve their problems abroad &amp; at home then turn around &amp; tell these disenfranchised black males that violence is never the answer...

the double-speaking politicians stink to hell...
at least mayor bloomberg is putting some funds into the black &amp; latino male crisis....
i guess it's a start after he helped cut so many services prior to this;
it's all a game to them---for politics

In developed countries, the level of functional literacy of an individual is proportional to his/her income level and risk of committing crime. For example, according to the National Center for Educational Statistics in the United States:[3]:

85% of US juvenile inmates are functionally illiterate

16 to 19 year old girls at the poverty level and below, with below average skills, are 6 times more likely to have out-of-wedlock children than their reading counterparts.

well i have seen many a black male not get sucked into the negativity who did not have a father involved in their lives...
i have also seen black males with fathers in their lives get sucked into the negativity..

IMO it goes much deeper than this common propaganda...

having been, and still being---a black male...i have done studies on this
