There were many things wrong with the auction from eBay seller collecting_coins, starting with the color. Would you like the faux-leather knockoff of the Proenza Schouler PS1 purse in peach blossom, watermelon red or perhaps N-brown?

That's right. N-brown. Not dark brown, chocolate brown or jut plain old brown. But N-brown.


The auction for the “Korean style Lady PU leather handbag shoulder bag 4656” was pulled over the weekend from eBay for violating the auction site's rules, but according to reports, listings for similar bags had been up since mid-July.

It is possible that the seller, <span style="font-weight: bold">who is based in Shanghai, China</span>, used a translation software similar to one that got a <span style="font-weight: bold">Canadian furniture store in trouble a few years back for selling a couch in the color N-brown</span>. But that really isn't a proper excuse.

There are no excuses for what happened with the description of the bag in the auction. None. What rock must you be living under to not know that in 2011, there is absolutely no appropriate usage of the N-word? Not in music, on the street and certainly not to describe a tatty purse on a global marketplace like eBay

I was once in a department store in Bangkok, Thailand (similar people, no?)
The lady shop assistant said that the cardigan suits me because I'm a neeker.

'Eh?'
'Because you're a neeker.'

'Y'know... black.'
'Oh...' (her accent had confused me.)

There was absolutely no malice in her voice and she must have thought she was being just a friendly shop assistant.
She didn't know the word is supposed to be offensive.


I last heard n-brown as a kid in the 80s.

i was shocked at seeing 'Sambo' above a picture of a thick-lipped, bulging eye black , on posters fi reggae shows , the first time i went to Japan...matter of fact, if memory serves me, there was a big todo about some Sambo chain r some such

i did not give the Japanese the benefit of the doubt...they have always been a xenophobic people, as evidenced by their poor relations wid odda Oriental, Occidentals r however u suppose fi coin people from di Orient...

yes, dem love yaad music etc pon an individual level, but dem also were robbing us even as they smiled wid us....case in point di JBC personality we took to emcee one tour who was shocked to find his radio shows he had welcomed dem to join in wid him a yaad, put onto CDs an being sold in Japan widdout his permission, knowledge n any financial renumeration to him
