<span style="font-weight: bold">Rape case thrown out after accused marries victim</span>

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) — A Magistrate in the southern city of San Fernando has dismissed a rape case against a 28-year-old man after the woman said she is now married to him.
"I am now married to the accused and we have a daughter," the 18-year-old woman told Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar in the San Fernando Third Court yesterday.
Her husband, Wayne Sahadath, was charged on March 17, 2008 for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a minor, under the age of 16 years. He married the teen a week after the alleged incident
"Having heard the evidence of the VC (victim) we are unable to proceed," said police prosecutor Gordon, who had earlier asked the woman whether she had been threatened or promised anything for taking the witness stand. after the case was dismissed, the couple walked out of the courtroom together.
