RichD, you're SO RIGHT!!

AlJazeera was also MY favourite TV Network. We used to get it 24/7 here in Ghana. The programming was excellent and very refreshing. They seemed not to be afraid of anything or anybody, and that was rare among news sources. They called themselves 'The Documentary Channel' and indeed their many documentaries were first-rate. I was a great fan of theirs! They seemed to be welcome just about anywhere they went. (Although when they did a piece on the environmental effects or a certain gold mine here on the local community they were given a hard time by the (Canadian) owners of the mine.)

Then the problems in Libya began. We heard rumblings that somebody unknown had spread the rumour that Qaddafi was recruiting thousands of foreign blacks as mercenaries and using them to slaughter his own people.by the hundreds. This was later to be proven to be a baseless allegation: no evidence whatsoever was ever found to back it up. But by the time that was found out, it was too late. It was picked up on and exaggerated by all the Mainstream Media without any investigation and used as a pretext at the UN for starting the War.(the 'War that isn't a War' )

Meanwhile people in the country which is 66% Arabs believed the spurious rumour and began attacking blacks in the street. Any person with a black skin was fair game. It became too dangerous for the hundreds of thousands of migrant workers from West Africa to stay there and so they all prepared to go home.

My grandson here was one of those and he managed to escape in time. When he got back to Accra, he came to visit me, and being curious about Libya and the situation there and knowing virtually nothing about it, I quizzed him extensively. It was he who told me that it had been AlJazeera who had started and spread those rumours and that Col. Qaddafi had kicked them out of the country because of it. I was shocked!!

He also said that the vast majority of the people were avid supporters of the Direct Democracy that was so successful in Libya and of Col. Qaddafi himself. I was even more amazed, as we had all been led to believe that Libya was basically the same as its neighbours.

After doing the usual research - and knowing that Aljazeera was stationed in Doha, Qatar, directly East of Libya, I discovered that there were <span style="font-weight: bold">10,000 Qatari troops</span> fighting alongside the so-called 'rebels' in the Eastern part of Libya, and that a majority of the 'rebels' were or had been associated with AlQaeda, My suspicions grew.

GlobalResearch then came out with proof that some of the 'news reports' being aired on AlJazeera had been faked and were part and parcel of the media disinformation campaign. I further found that AlJazeera Network was owned by the National Corporation of Qatar, which in turn is owned by the Emir of Qatar (his name escapes me right now) and that he is interested in a juicy slice of the upcoming oil contracts that will be de-nationalized (stolen from the Libyan People - who had no national debt!) and dished out to the foreign oil companies who have engineered this whole calamitous fiasco.
So what I gather from all this is that AlJazeera must have been arm-twisted into toeing the line of the Emir or being made unwelcome in their place of business.

It's really heartbreaking that this has happened - but I can remember watching their programs and asking myself: 'These people don't seem to have very much advertising revenue. I wonder how they are funded, TV and News production being the expensive industry that it is.'
The answer to that question is what made them vulnerable in the final analysis.
But it was the fact that their viewers trusted them that made their falsified reports so very damaging.

Libya runs on roumours...There was a roumour in 1999 that Gaddafi was killed, in 1999 thyat one of his famous female guards threw a grenade into his car and another stepped on it..... in 2000 that he had a stroke.. in 2001 he had demetia.. in 2002 that he negoiated with isreal .... there are no trusted news organs.. the ews papers was a complete farse with no critique.. the state was the familiy, the opposition was the familiy the juducary was the familiy, the NGO's was the familiy, the enviromental ministry was the familiy, down to the foot ball and olympic committes was the familiy,.. people congress had no power.. there were little continutity as policy changes were contradicted...workers would suddenly be pulled from work to attend congress....
there was roumours that Ghadaffi tried to ordered a Egyptian submarine captain during a joint Egyptian Libyan naval excercise attack isreal... the captain refused managed to contact Sadat who ordered him back to Egypt.. this then led to the murder of Sadat by the people backed by Ghadddafi..
There was a roumour about the disappearance of the Village if the jews in the 70's
a roumpur of the banning of African and Berber names by law till the 2000's

there was a roumour that in 1996 that Ghadffic killed opponents in the a prision in Benghazi
there were roumours when this attempt to over throw the familiy was as a resyult of the wives and susters of the disappeared from the 1996 roumour demonstrated against the ghadaffi regime.

blakkgiant..that he 'held onto power' or was a 'dictator'or 'tyrant'........these are all MYTHS with no evidence whatsoever to back them up. In FACT, Col Qaddafi DID 'step down' from being in control of things 'way back in 1979 when he abdicated power in favour of the form of Direct Democracy that resulted from his writing of THE GREEN CHARTER. (www.greencharter.org) which laid out and described the form of social and political structures that would rule Libya thenceforth. When Ghida Fakhri did a half-hour interview with him on AlJazeera in 2007, it finished thus:

FAKHRI:Col. Qaddafi, you have been 'in power' for 37 years now. Don't you ever get TIRED??
QADDAFI: (Laughs) Well, I don't really have that much to do anymore.......
FAKHRI: Do you think you'll ever step down?
QADDAFI: I wouldn't know what to step down FROM! - Libya runs ITSELF!

Not sure if I understand your questions, but America has been involved in Qatar's LNG industry since the early nineties. The air base was established around 2003.

Not sure if I understand your questions, but America has been involved in Qatar's LNG industry since the early nineties. The air base was established around 2003. </div></div>

i was musing on why just a short while ago the sentiment in some circles was that Aljazeera was the only one with the guts to tell the truth and now they have been expose in these same circles as a CIA operation. I wonder which one of their other &quot;reliable&quot; sources will be exposed next.
