That's what I want to know too. Even with internet and on-line banking, they still cannot move mail like the Post Office does.

When I was trying to get a competitive rate for shipping the USPS gave me the better option over UPS. I tend to think UPS is more cost effective for large package. I am not moving that sized package so I use the post office.

All I know is if the lazy bastards cannot guarantee priority and/or express mail (when the weather is nice in every location that the package haffi pass choo) then don't advertise it

that's why I just go UPS and/or fedex for that type of service

they caught me once and that was enough for me

Yes, Yes and Yes - let them get leaner all by themselves. No more bail out. Early this year I went to the post office to collect a certified letter. The clerk asked for my ID and when I showed it to her she asked for a letter addressed to me at my home. I told her that I am going back home for a letter and that all she needed was my driver's license as ID. She turned and walked away from the window and left me there and the guy at the other window told me that I was disrespectful because I talked back to her. I told him they can keep the letter because I am not showing them a 2nd piece of ID. Now, these are the kind of people who wants government bail out? The workers are over paid, pensions are excessive and benefits are as much as police officers and fire fighters. [postal workers are well known for their high salaries and benefits] I don't begrude them anything but when times are bad you tighten your belt and cut, cut, cut. I say let them learn to give back some of those salaries, benefits, etc. I had to take a 10% decrease in pay, pay more for health insurance, lost my firm's contribution to the 401K fund and was asked to work 10% more without overtime - so if I can do so can they.

I'm so fedup with the junk, what I'm thinking to do is from now on, goto the box with a pen and write &quot;Return To Sender&quot; on every piece of Junk thats addressed to me.. and stuff these and all the generic crap into the &quot;Out-going mail&quot; slot..

If everyone did this, maybe they'll finally get the message..

aldoe pon TV its 22 minutes of actual entertainment and 8 minutes of ads.. while the post is more like enduring 29 minutes of useless ads just to get 1 minute of entertainment.... not to mention the pile of garbage created..

St_Bess, I did not click the links, but I think they established the post office is not asking for money.

I'm more interested in this ID thing. I cannot think of any occasion in which I had to show my license at the post office. Not when I use my credit card to pay for a shipment or any pick-up have I ever be carded. Did you not have the notice or something?

And a piece of mail addressed to you? I don't even know where to go with that one. Who walks around with mail? They are the post office so why not head to the back and find one for me OR make another delivery attempt, I'll see you back at the house.

Plexxed, I'm not getting my full 22 minutes. I have been taping on the dvr and ff-ing through commercials and I think I'm averaging about 16 minutes of show.

I too did not open the links and I am still mad w/the post office and their service. Yes, they asked for current ID and when I provided my drivers license along with the notice left by the postal worker they requested a letter addressed to me. I even had to bring a letter addressed to me at DMV when I applied for driver's license reciprocity despite the fact that I had my property tax bill [which of course was addressed to me] along with other documents. When I lived in Manhattan I had no problems with the post office so I think it is the neighborhood where I presently live. I noticed that in NYC they have closed 13 or so post offices and the hours have changed for others. I needed to send a priority package about 3 weeks ago and I went to 3 post offices in Manhattan and they were not yet opened (between 7:30 and 8 AM). I ended up going to the 24-hour post office.

wow! what state this is this happen in?

I live in podunk and one of the few black families.. I just tell them my name &amp; they get the stuff if I need it.. even when we vote, our neighbor is one of the people who work at the polls and we doan show id to vote

There's so much mail fraud and scams that here in the city it's the norm to show your Govt issued ID when you go to pick up mail at the Post Office. Not sure why it's not done in other states.

People teef all kinda sitten and guh post office pretending to be other people.

Even the check cashing places asking for ID plus mail addressed to you \o/
which is dumb cause if smaddy can teef yuh ID dem can teef yuh mail as well
