Just one question....How is this protest any different than the Tea Party protest that everyone howled was racist because Obama is the Pres.?

Whether you realize it or not the protestors are blaming Obama also...Obama is status quo, which is wall street and the big banks etc.

Occupy Wall Street: Protesters anger at 'eviction' move

Occupy Wall Street protesters are planning a new demonstration in response to being told to move from Zuccotti Park in Manhattan, New York.

The private firm that owns the space gave protesters notice that they would begin enforcing regulations after cleaning the park.

Thy include a ban on sleeping bags on the ground and no lying on benches.

Hundreds of people have camped in the park for four weeks, and related protests have spread across the US.

Protest organisers sent an email to supporters on Thursday asking them to join the protesters at 06:00 EDT (10:00 GMT) to &quot;defend the occupation from eviction&quot;.

Representatives of Brookfield Properties, which owns the park, distributed the notice on Thursday. Some were escorted by police.

The park regulations existed before the protests began but have not been enforced.

They include a prohibition on lying down on the ground or on benches, using sleeping bags or tarps, or the storage of personal property.

&quot;As sections of the park are cleaned, they will reopen to the public,&quot; Brookfield said in an emailed statement. &quot;All are welcome to enjoy the park for its intended purpose as an open neighbourhood plaza, in compliance with posted rules.&quot;

New York City councillors joined protesters at a news conference on Thursday evening, calling the effort to move the protesters out of the park a &quot;ruse&quot; backed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
'No gear'

As protesters pre-emptively scrubbed the park on Thursday, some questioned the need to clean the space at all.

&quot;This is the cleanest protest I've ever witnessed,&quot; Emilio Montilla, a now-unemployed teacher's assistant, told the Associated Press news agency. &quot;We take care of ourselves. We're self-sufficient.&quot;

New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said police would be standing by on Friday.

There have been some flashpoints between police and protesters in recent weeks, with hundreds of people arrested on 1 October during a march over the Brooklyn Bridge.

&quot;After it's cleaned, they'll be able to come back, but they won't be able to bring back the gear, the equipment, sleeping bags,&quot; Mr Kelly said.

As the number of protesters sleeping in the park has grown, the occupation has shown signs of permanence.

Food stalls have sprung up, as well as an infirmary and even a library.

But protesters have no toilet facilities of their own and depend on local restaurants near the park. There have also been reports of locals complaining about demonstrators urinating and defecating in the streets.

Earlier this week, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has said protesters would not be evicted from the park unless they broke the law.
