Need to know who dreamt that the garrison community of TG would have been dismantled, while the Labor party was in power to boot, and which other political leader ever ever or will dismantle their garrisons..
What Bruce did was unpopular, but a guess time will tell..

Really ? You mean like the time he told the NDM that he was not seeking to lead the JLP at the same time he was on Eddie's verandah <span style="text-decoration: underline">doing exactly what he said he wasn't doing</span> ?

When was the garrison community of TG &quot;dismantled&quot; ? And what does &quot;dismantled&quot; mean ? Do you mean when almost 100 of its citizens were murdered by police and soldiers looking for a man that was being protected by said BG ?

&quot;Unpopular&quot; ? How about what Bruce did was tantamount to obstruction of justice ? What BG did was to <span style="font-weight: bold">use </span>the power of his office, and<span style="font-weight: bold"> use</span> officials of the Jamaican government, to provide cover for a man who ultimately pleaded guilty to crimes that may land him in prison for many years to come.

Perhaps Golding is the most successful PM so far but the bar was set pretty low to begin with given the very weak leadership offered by previous PMs. Golding made a serious error of judgement with the Mannat/Dudus mess but if you take that out of the equation he did do an ok job given everything else going on in the global economy. Further if you factor in the good that has come out of Mannat/Dudus almost by accident with violent crime down significantly then even the way that whole thing played out may turn out to be a good thing. We have never had a PM resign because of something he did so again Golding has inadvertently raised the bar for holding the office.

If the JLP handles the leadership race well and elects someone who is not a lightning rod who can continue on with progress made so far, when the final chapter on Bruce Golding's tenure as Prime Minister is written his four years in office may turn out to be the most transformative time in Jamaica's history...in a good way.

So TreyJ, how do you feel about the JLP <span style="text-decoration: underline">standing by</span> Joe Hibbert and <span style="text-decoration: underline">others</span> within the party hierarchy ? Is that not a part of BG's legacy too ?

Mi naah guh debate.. Bruce Golding is easily one of the BEST leaders Jamaica ever has, and who feels it (multiple JA leadership) knows it..

I wonder how much pressure the prime minister had from within his own party to stand down? Regardless, I have to give him some respect for not having illusions of grandeur and clinging to power like the old guard politicians.

Since the USA has admitted What many have known regarding regime change, it would be fool Hardy for any leader to attempt to hold onto power without their covert support.

Golding basically endorsed Holness or maybe Tufton. Says the trend worldwide from US to Australia to UK is for younger leaders who can bring energy and fresh ideas to the job. Giving him props for a well delivered speech.

And not sure...if this is a good thing or not but Karl Samuda throwing his weight behind 39 y.o. Andrew Holness for the top job.
