Diddy apologizes for racist, homophobic slurs
Diddy is apologizing via Twitter for using racist and homophobic terms during a fracas at an Atlanta nightclub over the weekend.
“I’m a child of God and I should be better no matter what somone says to me,” he tweeted. “I’m sorry for the ignorant way I repesented myself and us.” That was followed by, “To all my childen of God … I have backslid and regressed. Forgive me for my ignorance. Pray for me pls. I know better and I am better.”
TMZ reports the rapper mixed it up with a patron of the club Compound Saturday night, throwing ice at him, threatening to fight him and using racist and homophobic terms n***** and f*****.
A party promoter told us that more than 2,500 people attended the bash, held as an after-party following the BET Hip Hop awards. “Special guest host T.I. made a huge comeback co-hosting alongside “Mr. Entertainment” himself, Diddy at Compound Nightclub,” the official post-party missive read.
The official guest list included entertainers, pro athletes and other notables including Nelly, Kandi Burruss, Tiny, Toya Carter, Pusha T, Young Jeezy, Erykah Badu, Busta Rhymes, 2 Chains, Carl Payne, DJ Drama, Mike Epps, Terrence J, Jennifer Williams, Akon, Too Short, Damien Wilkins, Joe Johnson, Marquis Daniels, Jarrett Jack, Jannero Pargo, Kenny Burns and Middleman.
Diddy, a prolific tweeter whose posts usually consist of motivational messages such as “Never Give up!” and “Dream big and go hard!” seems to have put the unpleasantness behind him. His most recent tweets reads simply, “I LOVE YOU! ”
But earlier he struck a contrite tone: “I have a responibility that I promise I will live up to. And I’m more disapointed in myself than you know. I will humble myself and learn….Bottom line is I’m sorry to all! Pls find it in your heart to accept my apology. I will do better and be greater and a source of positivity!”
And finally: “Thank y’all for listening. Thank you. Real talk. Peace.”
