RINGGOLD, Ga. — A northwest Georgia woman charged with leaving her 2-year-old daughter in a ditch near a playground told police she is addicted to prescription drugs and hoped a nice family would find the child.
Thirty-one-year-old Jennifer Haines was being held Friday in the Catoosa County Jail on charges that include second-degree cruelty to children and marijuana possession. Jail records did not show that she has an attorney.
A report states that after leaving her daughter Tuesday, Haines walked into a nearby home to watch through the windows and see what happened.
Several motorists called police saying a toddler wearing shorts and a diaper was walking down a street in the rain.
