Indian= nationality
Chinese= nationality
Black= color

Actually she was serious ..she got mad when people laid her straight!!
She was being defensive and made some other weird off comments about her being half Indian and she is not represented by the Jamaica media
J_yout the last statement struck me as way off base .. saying "we are all not black"
Soh in her mind ..because she is NOT "nappy headed"..she isn't black? (which lines up with your thought that black = color)
I say nappy head because she is dark skinned Jamaican but she has long Indian hair... soh in her mind she isn't black because of her hair????? I am freeking confused
hmmm...well it is unfair of her to say that light skinned Jamaicans are not represented in the media...every Jamaican that ever went on to become miss world was light skinned and "pretty haired"...most crossover Jamaican artistes are lighter...
I do get what she is saying though. In America for instance you say you're Jamaican and they automatically think African descent. I once met a lily white woman here who chat the broadest patwa I have ever heard in my life. Shocked the daylights outta me cuz even in JA di white ppl dem never chat patwa so bad Anyway, I guess she wants people to know that she and others like her exist in Jamaica.

it depends on the ad...if they want to give the message of service in any form, it is always dark skin Jcans...check any ad fi any resort...even di old time tourist posters did dat...di most famous n requested one had dat mix chick in di bikini n smaddy did tell me she not even Jcan...

we have our own demons to fight in Jamaica...Kimberly Mais is still rated in the Ja press as the most famous an successful Jcan model...i cannot memba seeing her on a magazine cover but dat black chick the former go go dancer, her i recognized wen she was on them...
but even last week dem was rating Mais...guess she does well on the catwalk in Europe but i always thought Covers etc was the deciding factor..but wat do i know wen i still having problems touching mi toes...:

i'm even more confused because i didn't see the supposed writer mention anything about her hair at all--or anything about hair...i saw her mention two nationality-races and a color...

Sorry ... J_yout ..I only quoted her initial statement..but in the running thread someone asked her why she wouldn't consider herself black if she is Jamaican..she responded that when people see her Indian hair they dont think she is black ...they think she is Indian and she has to explain to people she is Jamaican born
I have a GF who is also Indian Jamaican and I will never forget the day she and I were in the mall and she went into the salon and asked : "How much it is to wash hair like hers?" The lady answered: "$35 for all hair types"
I am not sure what was the point of adding the "hair like hers." Maybe she was looking for a discount Incidentally, she too hates to be called "black"
