naw.... given dat him rent to HUD really since him is section 8 qualified him could not have refused anyone HUD sent...

matter of fact he wouldnt have dared mek di statement to anyone referred by HUD...or anyone who came to him an indicated they were section 8 qualified...cause dem woulda did report him to HUD an dem drop him apartments

yep..him is a damn idiat fi seh dat if him did...which i strongly suspect he did....but few things:

the couple was not discriminated against..if anything they were given preferential treatment.
the person they wanted to sublease to *may* have been discriminated against however:
* she did not bring suit and
* the terms of the lease strictly forbids subletting so he was not entitled to rent to her under those terms.
mi fine out seh him rent it to another interracial couple
if anything the couple can probably sue to get back the security deposit but they broke the lease so that is a long shot

I would not rent my house/apartment to certain people and I have my reasons and this may include people from my own country. I think the couple may be able to get back their deposit because they found a tenant to sub-lease the property but it depends on their lease agreement. Most lease agreements you are not permitted to sub-lease an apartment or hourse I personally think these former tenants are lying about his reasons for rejecting the person they wanted to sub-lease the house to. If the people dem have so many houses rented out especially to Section 8 people they are <span style="text-decoration: underline">well versed on HUD policies </span>regarding discrimination. I don't believe they are guilty. All him need is a good housing lawyer and remember he is not guilty until he is proven guilty in housing court. Mi frend and har husband who live a JA bought a house cash near JFK when their daughter was a law student in the city - she rented it to a JA woman who did not work, did not want to work and would not pay her part of the rent after Section 8 paid theirs. The tenant took them to court and claimed that the Owners daughter live in fi har owna basement and pointed out that it is illegal fe live inna basement. After a couple more tenants the owners got so frustrated that the house is no longer rented it is only used when they or members of their family visit NYC.

Yes, him should ah jus leff it right deh soh an dun, or if pressed an him feel him haffi give an answer, which he does not. Him could hav said, he already has the names of people who hav already expressed interest in the property, and they get first priority.
