perhaps in a far more enlightened age...we are certainly nowhere near this right now...
i have heard a variation of this which i think said as long as animals are killed by huumans, humans will also be killed humans

it's true...the eating of meat especially in this time of corporate farming, does untold damage to the environment & a chain reaction of destruction

I can see the benefits of being a vegetarian, but once you get the taste for meat it's kind of hard to shake.

I went through a number of years being a vegetarian (no meat of any kind), but I was never really satisfied with the taste of my meals. Hunger was satiated, but my taste buds were not truly satisfied.

God, that first steak after I went back - umph umph umph.

I love seafood and red meat way too much for this to be a realistic long term option for me. Beans, peas and nuts can only go so far as protein sources if you weren't raised on that type of diet. I don't eat flesh every day, but I'm not willing to dismiss it altogether.

me too tulip-i lasted a few weeks, i'm not a big meat eater, but i need poultry & seafood (except shrimp)

Yes, I like fish and beef. That doesn't mean I'd ever consider eating mankind. It might be sweet, but I'll never intentionally know.

Dietary preferences can be influenced by any of a number of things including cultural tradition, religious tradition, family tradition, childhood experiences, personal economic resources, availability of choices, health needs and personal preferences among other things. Given the complexity of the reasons why people eat what they eat, I try my best not to sit in judgement of others in regards to this issue.

noh watch noh face...

i went a long time also without dead flesh but have dabbled in it every now and again caw mi love red snapper...

it's difficult in this time to stay completely off it although my goal is to completely eliminate....

i mean, meat is delicious & almost universally accepted as food...but on a moral-ethical level, how humane is it to murder another living animal?
(i remember this man said you are free to eat the animal if it has died naturally & not from violence, but who's actually gonna wait for that?)

this reinforces the current order of the world where some live off the blood & flesh of others...
it takes too much willpower & discipline for humanity to give up things which give us pleasure & sustenance...
that's why some dying of lung/throat cancer still smoke..some with diabetes still eat loads of sweets...people in relationships still sleep with others, etc.
