An Unpopular Subject Here I Know....

... but I would be remiss if I didn't remember to acknowledge our war vets today.

I'm thinking of all those who fought and died on all sides and how it affected those that they left behind.

I'm thinking also in particular of my grandfather who left his wife and eight children to run their farm in Jamaica while he went to serve in Europe. I'm thankful that God delivered him back home to his family.

Happy Veterans Day to the Vets.....have quite a few senior family members in Europe and Canada that are war vets and the stories they used to tell to me when I was a little girl.

Most if not all of us usually have at least one person serving in the armed forces.

Just watch the Veterans march up Fifth Avenue here earlier this morning. Remember my Papa who served in the RAF during WWII together with my friend's Dad Uncle Dick. I remembered as a child wearing poppies made from paper [I think we had to buy them and the proceeds went to the Vets]. Like Blu sey lots of vets on the streets of NYC if you really believe all the signs - some are and some aren't.

I only wish that more people would do the same.

Regardless of your views on war(s), support the veterans who risked their lives to fight for their country, and remember the veterans who gave their lives fighting for their country. Separate the politics from the veterans!

Mista Witchy was caught by surprise this morning, Since his hours have been cut,he was home from work today. Since he was home, we decided to have breakfast at the local greasy spoon diner (hey - it's cheap).

Everybody thanked Mr Witchy for his service. Then, they paid for our meals.
So we had free breakfasts today, in gratitude for Mr Witchy's sacrifice.

Just from the reaction from posting this topic on previous Remembrance/Veteran's Days. Anyway, each of us observes it in our own way and we all have legit reasons to feel the way we do about it. I think we can all agree that we hope for peace for the generations which follow.

I have a friend who's son served in Afghanistan, it's hard to think of him as a vet because to me he is still a kid.
