Oh, NO!! My poor beloved old laptop.....

I finally wore out the keys on the keyboard of my trusty old laptop (a 5-year old Compaq). So I took it to Micro Center this afternoon. sigh

They're gonna have to keep it for two weeks! *anguished wail*
There's a one week waiting list. And it'll take a week to order and get in a new keyboard for my laptop. It only takes about 20 minutes to actually install the darn thing.

I will have no computer to use for the next two weeks!!
In the evenings, if he isn't using it, I can use Mr WItchy's work notebook. It's like half the size of my laptop. I can't see what I want on this screen. I can't fit my big hands over this teensy weensy keyboard. I keep making typos. I can't see an entire webpage at one view. ARRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHH!

I want my beloved laptop back! NOW!!

The machine itself runs great. It's case is in perfect shape. Only the keys of the keyboard were shot. I 'type' on it too much. dwl

It's kind ok like sinking money into a quickly depreciating car. A 5 year old, high-end laptop is probably equal to a $300 basic model today. Not to mention your operating sysrem will be upgraded with the new computer.

It's a tough call but for me, once it is that old (5 years) I would be asking for a new one for Christmas rather than sink money into the old one.

I like my old laptop. I prefer it to any I've ever had before... it's the best (IMO) of all of 'em... and I have had about ten of them since the early-mid 1990s. I like it's size, I like it's weight, I love it's screen, I adore its speed; No laptop is better for me... for my preferences... than my ole laptop.

This laptop - believe it or not - was a cheap fast purchase... and I-need-it-right-now-for-this-week kinda purchase from the Walmart near Scott AFB in 2006. And it's the laptop-love of my life!

It suits me. <span style="font-weight: bold">I don't want to replace it.</span>

The laptop is probably an additional year older than the 5 years I've stated... I bought it on clearance sale at Christmastime 2006, in southern Illinois. I don't care, though, because, like I said, for my purposes, it suits me just fine! For a mere $80, I can have it back in perfect condition, and it'll last me another 5 or 6 years, easily.

How much fancy upgrading do unnu think I need for surfing the 'Net and posting on J'com and Catholic Community?! dwl
