Some long-time family friends called to invite us - at this late date - to their house for Thanksgiving... after I planned my own supper and bought it and started to defrost my frozen turkey breast. Who invites somebody to a holiday supper just three days before said holiday? It's just plain wrong! If they wanted our company, shouldn't they have invited us before now? At least a week ago, and preferably two weeks ago?
Now, I have to cook my turkey breast Thursday, or waste it. It has to be cooked, it won't wait (not safely). I planned out my menu. I want my fennel-stuffed rolled butterflied deboned turkey breast, not a regular plain roasted turkey. I want my mushroom and vegetable stuffing, not their Italian sausage stuffing. I want my beloved Brussels sprouts, not their spinach or turnips or Irish potatoes. I want my southern sweet potato pie for dessert, not their dry cracked pumpkin pie. I want the dishes that I planned! But my friend doesn't want a single one of my dishes; she won't give one inch. (she never does, she's extremely inflexible)
Mr Witchy wants to go and have fun with his family friends. He couldn't care less about the food. (Nor about my upset plans.)
Should I go, and just let my plans get trampled? (and cry when alone)
Or should I put my foot down, and tell hubby that I want MY plans for my holiday? (no matter what)
