Career-related advice needed

I'm going to send the members of my team an "appreciogram". should i automatically send one to my fellow managers and boss? one of them i'm having a hard time with and i don't want to be a hypocrite. but i hear the person is planning to send one to other members of the management team, and i don't want to look bad getting but not giving.

do i send the fellow manager an "appreciogram"? i think i know the answer, but it's eating my heart out...

If you send to the managers (and this person is a manager) -just include them and done. It not worth yuh sanity and peace to exclude the &quot;person&quot;

Of course, You can always not send anything to ANY of the senior staff, they don't usually expect anything (and recession still in full swing-unless the gram is a thank you email)

The workplace is something else don't ?

Funny, as I type this, they have a segment on the news about this.

Mi would juss cawl a meeting and invite everybady. Order some Donuts and OJ and tell dem all how much yuh appreciate dem hawd wurk and dedicayshan.

Chances are, him naaguh come and at leass yuh won't have tuh feel nuh way.

speking of work I had a BIIG eff up at work last nite and it entailed 58,000L of Regular E-10 Gasoline and Six fire trucks as well as Green For Life Enviromental Services

I have never had a management position and don't want one for the reason that I suck at office politics and really have no interest in it anyway. Although i did at one point in my life.

Glad I don't have to worry myself about things like that.

I would just send to my staff and done. Without knowing more about you, your job, and office politics, it's kind of hard for us to give advice. If you have a trusted mentor/friend in senior management, they would be best placed to help you on this one.

With the company I contract for in Scandinavia the various departments have what is called &quot;Team Building&quot;.. This will vary from dinners, bowling, concerts, Ballet.. either fully funded by the company or funded by the company social fund.. Team buildings are offsite and during company hours...We get to expense the company for taxi fares...


Last Night we went to a Jule Beer tasting for the entire company about 60 people turned up... Where we sampled micro brewed beers in the range of 7% though to 9.5% a tradition of the Norges and Swedes is of brewing high alcohol ales flavoured with spices... After all the Nordic god of the sea was teh master brewer...sponsored by the company...I felt appriciated !!! Skol....

next week we are going to the ballet..

On occasion we had guys just bring in cakes either they baked them selves or their parnters did..

We use to have a weekly draw based on the Gran Prix where the loser had to buy cakes on Tuesay .. gran Prixs are on Sunday.. One wanted to avoid drawing red bull.. what a difference a year makes !!!!

so I suggest a team building at the pub!!!! But then I like beer!!!! u could have a wne tasting.. or a chocolate tasting.. (We did that in London once!!!)...

I agree with BS. Usually, appreciation gifts are meant to roll down the chain. I can see giving &quot;appreciograms&quot; to your team but not your peers.

Is everyone on the management team rumored to be exchanging appreciogams or just the one you're having problems with? Also, is this a company funded incentive program or do you have to come out your own pocket?
