long story short..
American company United Fruit Company ruled the Banana trade in latin America..
The then president of Guatemala (Jacobo Arbenz ) wanted to give the land back to his people. UFC did not like this. SO they hired Edward Bernays (The Father of propaganda - the man who it is said, <span style="font-weight: bold"> tricked/convinced Americans that Bacon should be a part of their Breakfast </span> - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Bernays) to convince (cold war) paranoid US citizens that Arbenz was Communist.

The CIA infiltrated Guatemala, and successfully plotted Arbenz's overthrow.
This convinced Che Guevara that America was imperial monster and hardened his revolt .. He teamed up with Fidel and both lead the revolt in Cuba..

Any semblance to what has happened/ is happening in the Middle East? Gadaffi, Bin Laden, Sadam?
a wonder... When <span style="font-style: italic">the truth</span> (whatever that is) is finally out and accepted about the past decade, will the next generation be wearing T-Shirts with Gaddafi, Bin Laden or Sadam just as we proudly sport our Che shirts now-a-days?

May I suggest that a reveiw of who Arbenz was may be nessesary including the fact that he was in a cabinet that gave aproval for the medical trials on non white Gutemalans ?? As well as a more detailed look at the poltics of Guetemala... it was more neuanced than land reform goverment overthrown by invincible CIA....

or what the future that Che proposed for the world would actually be ... I especially thing significance what happened to his black lover immidately after victory on 1st of January 1959.. Or why che had to resign from the Central Bank and the ministry of industrial development or the part he played in rewritign the particiapants and poltics of the anti batista movement....
